That made Will's brow crease with concern. He'd wanted to hear how Evie was doing most of all, but the Sheriff didn't even acknowledge his questions, just beat him for talking too much. So he'd stopped asking and just listened, ears straining for anything that would tell him. Sometimes he thought he heard things, but he mostly knew he was imagining it.
"So, you haven't seen her." It wasn't a question. "Why would you do that? Distract him?"
