Tuck held the bottle up for Will to drink from, and when he had had his fill, Tuck put the bottle aside. "Oh, my darling, I need to clean you up," he said, his voice full of love and affection and sadness. There was a sink in the room and Tuck went to fill a bowl with water and to grab a cloth. He returned to wip the blood from Will's face. The cool water would soothe some of the pain. "I'm so sorry," he repeated, "I didn't know he was going to do this. I would have stopped him if I could. I've got you now. I've got you."
