Marian had been in the shower when all the commotion began. There wasn't much to do in here to keep her mind occupied, and so Marian had been spending a lot of time exercising. She wasn't going too hard, because she knew there might be a need to conserve food. But she couldn't just sit still, not with their current predicament. Her body needed to be as ready as her mind to take any advantages.
Besides, the thought of their enemies out there ready to come walking right in made Marian's skin crawl.
At first Marian didn't hear anything (her face tilted back under the water and humming) but she straightened with a frown, wondering what her boys were doing. But, no, someone else was out there, something was happening.
Marian swore and yanked the shower off, snatching clothes from the ground to yank on, just enough to not be naked- in this case the tank top and leggings she'd been wearing to work out. When she burst out of the bathroom her dripping wet hair and body were already soaking through her clothes, but the thought of any of that came far behind the knowledge that Evie was here.
She exclaimed the young woman's name and ran to her side, wrapping her arms around her. "Are you okay?" She glared over Evie's shoulder at their captors. "Did any of them hurt you?"
Marian pulled back from the hug, to late to realise how wet she'd made the poor girl, and stepped in front of her. She saw Tuck's nose and realised what Will was complimenting her on. Good girl, Evie.
