WHO: Evie Ceredig, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, Robin Hood, Maid Marian WHEN: June 2044 WHERE: The barn WHAT: Evie Finding Out WARNINGS: TBA
It had been weeks now, and her father was nowhere to be seen. Neither were Robin or Marian. Papa had taken her to stay with strange men who made her uncomfortable. And he went places at night when he thought she was asleep. She would lie awake and hear his car pull away, only to return hours later. What was he doing? While she didn't really think it had anything to do with her father, she had to know what her Papa was up to.
And Evie was her mother's daughter.
After heading to bed one night, Evie had slipped out the window, as quiet as a cat. She could move without making a noise if she needed to. She had been taught by the best, after all. She had curled up in the boot of Papa's car and hardly had to wait twenty minutes before he was pulling away with her concealed inside. The ride seemed long and unnecessarily bumpy, and she could hear her Uncle Iestyn's disapproving voice in her head the entire time. That or her grandfather. The horror.
When the car finally pulled to a stop, she waited until she could hear Papas footsteps recede. Finally, she crept out of the boot and looked around. There was a little farmhouse in the distance, but closer was a hulking barn with light pouring out of an open door. Carefully, she stepped towards it, sticking to the shadows.
In the barn, Robin was stretched out on one of the cots, trying to ignore his stomach grumbling. He could eat some of the canned food, but he was holding out waiting for Tuck to bring something fresh and nice. He was going fucking spare being cooped up, and despite everything, Tuck's cooking was one of the few things they had to look forward to. It was that or more goddamned tinned peas.
A sound at the door had him whipping his head around and he caught sight of a wisp of blonde hair, before his guts clenched and he saw- "Evie? WILL!" He reached to shake his nephew awake. "WILL, wake up!"
Evie had been so careful creeping up to the barn, but once she saw her father behind the bars, she ran forward. "Dad! Oh my- Oh my god, wh- Don't worry-" So many emotions raced through her at once - terror, horror, relief- This must have been what Papa was doing! Looking for them! He must have realised they were missing and he hadn't wanted to worry her. Classic Papa. "Papa's here! Dad, I just have to find where he went! He can get you out."
