Nicholas panicked and did the only thing he could honestly think of then, "I'll get you a place," he said quickly. "I'm moving here anyway, to set up the new branch of my club." So apparently it was Chicago and not New York then. Decision made. "I can get a place big enough for everyone. With a roof garden! They have those."
Jayden was too young to think too hard about the consequences here. "You mean- We could go outside?"
"Yes. You could. I could pay for food so you wouldn't have to worry about that ever again- I could get tutors even. Pay them off so they didn't say anything-"
Jayden jumped up, grinning. "Can we go now?"
Adrian had heard enough, then. He hauled himself off the sofa and across the room. "Who the fuck do you think you are!? You have no right to come in here and get his hopes up like this, Jesus Christ!"
"Adrian, shut up! I want to live with a rooftop garden!" Jayden screamed back at his brother.
