It had hurt Jesse to blow off Nicholas, especially since he hadn't seen him in so long. But everything had to be weighed against the four of them being found out and separated, and he had yet to find something more important.
He got home and let himself in, kicking the door shut as he called out for a hand with the bags. Isaiah appeared, and Jesse handed him the cold things to go in the refrigerator.
"All quiet on the home front?" he asked, toeing off his shoes and following Isaiah into the kitchen.
"So far, but it's only 1, give it time," Isaiah said, with his usual brand of wry humor.
