"Getting on," Thomas said quietly. "Confusion sets in sometimes, but I'm still here." He watched as Victor re-entered and started preparing lunch. "Is he alright?" Thomas asked quietly. "He...looks-" Thomas tried to mine 'serious' since he couldn't think of the right word.
When Jamie re-entered, Thomas smiled at his son. It was the first time in a while the expression came easily.
"Just in time," Victor said, as he spooned some potatoes, carrots and chicken onto a plate for Jamie and another for Kat. It wasn't seasoned with anything and it might be boring, but it was real food which didn't come from a can. The poor boy looked like he could use it. "I'll help Thomas. You just dig in."
