WHO: Pandora & open to anyone and everyone who might be there. WHERE: 33 Thomas Street, NYC WHAT: Zombie apocalypse central! Just a bit of background for the AU and open for Pandora to play with people.
In the end, it had been humanity's own imagination that had caused its downfall. Zombie apocalypses had saturated the media and with each year it grew more popular. Everyone joked about their survival plans for it - and some weren't joking so much - and TV and movies kept churning out the undead plots. It had been a surprisingly sudden change. There were strange news reports and people made the usual zombie jokes. They came a little more quickly and the jokes gained an edge of actual concern. By the time the reality became clear it was far too late.
Outbreak. Pandemic. Already sweeping across the globe from infected hosts, shutting down cities and leaving populations decimated. Immortals survived it better. They could come back, at least in the beginning. But as the number of humans dwindled, so did the number of immortals who actually returned after death. Humans never had that benefit. Every zombie story had come true and side by side with shambling brainless corpses came fast and intelligent creatures. If man had thought them up, then they were there and thriving. The newfound fear and knowledge from humanity only made them stronger.
Pandora hadn't been at the building on Thomas Street when everything had fallen into chaos seven months ago. She had been moving around the city with a group of humans but all of them were dead by now. It was only a week ago that she'd found herself in this building, which was secure and safe - as much as anything could be these days. There were 29 floors, but above the fourth floor everything was closed off. It was safer that way. There was enough space for everyone who needed somewhere though, and the number of immortals gathered together was impressive. She knew there were others throughout the city though - she'd run into some in her travels.
Pandora had kept mostly to herself, having met only a few people in the building so far and those were mostly just the ones who had brought her in. But today she came out of her room for the first time, making her way to the industrial sized kitchen so she could find something to eat. Everything in here was steel and ceramic, shiny surfaces that were nothing like the outside world. There was food as well, mostly canned things they had scavenged from stores. Perishables had long ago perished.
She picked up an unlabeled can and turned it around, considering, in her hand.
