"Oh, my gosh! That's my favorite episode, too!" Nicole Winters ( at least, that's who she was programmed to be ) put her hand over her heart in a gesture of surprise. "Most people prefer episode 19, but 20 will always be my all time fave." Smiling, the brunette turned from the life-size stand up of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, attention focusing solely on the man beside her. Nicole wasn't tall, but he was just an inch or two taller than her. He might not have been the most attractive man on the planet, but that didn't matter. He was as much of an enthusiast when it came to comics and television as she was. They were a match made in heaven, as far as she was concerned. This was only their second date, but she was almost sure that this was the guy for her. Hell, she even kind of loved the black, thick-rimmed glasses that made his green eyes look too big for his face.
"Come on! I want to meet Anthony Stewart Head!" Giggling, Nicole grabbed one of his thin arms, linking it within her own and pulling him over to a table where various stars sat, all signing a plethora of pictures. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see people from television shows ranging from Buffy to Stargate Atlantis. Matthew, her date, tried to play it cool, despite his obvious excitement. "Yeah, I guess they're pretty cool," he mused, drawing himself even closer to her, as if telling all the other fans that she was his date. Nicole didn't mind. Instead, she smiled and moved her arm around him. "So, I'm pretty sure this is the coolest date I've ever been on. How do you plan on topping this one?" A single, dark brow quirked at his suddenly quizzical expression. "Don't worry, Matt. I'm sure anything you do will be fantastic."
The lines of people in front of them seemed to go on forever. Full lips puffed out in a small sigh of impatience while slender, black-nailed fingers pulled restlessly at the name tag around her neck. Matthew had bought them platinum access passes, so why did they have to wait in line? She was just about to ask something along those lines when she noticed the vibrations in her pocket. There was only one thing that could mean. It was time for her treatment.
An apologetic expression shifted her gentle features as his turned into a look of almost saddened understanding. "I'm sorry, but I've got to --" Matt only nodded, offering a tiny smile when he did so. "It's cool, Nikki. You go .. do whatever it is you do. I'll see you soon." Glossed lips widened in a thankful smile, just before she grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him closer so that she could press a quick kiss to his lips. Just as she turned, ready to make her way through the thick crowds of fans, she felt his hand on her arm. Confused, Nicole turned to face him. "I'm going to miss you, Nicole." Why did that sound like goodbye? He'd said it with such sadness, that it was almost like he was mourning her right then and there. She only giggled, shaking her head, causing her dark strands of hair to shake around her face. "I'll see you Wednesday, silly." Gently, she pulled her arm away and somehow managed to dodge and push her way outside to the front of the building, not seeing the person she was looking for.
Deciding to wait, Nicole crossed her arms and leaned back against the brick. It would only take a few minutes. David, after all, was never late.
