WHO Ezekiel, Erica and Clarke WHAT Trapped and trying to escape WHERE Peabody Essex Museum WHEN Tornado Day WARNINGS Foul language courtesy of Erica. Other warnings TBD
Things had been insane lately. Ezekiel wasn't entirely sure why he continued to try going to work every day, but he needed to keep himself busy. He needed to work on something. He had some gadgets he was working on at home, mostly complicated alarm systems that prevented anyone from breaking into his house without his knowledge, but he was almost done putting those together. Salem was getting more and more dangerous every day and it was vital to protect himself, especially since he currently lived alone. He assumed he would get a roommate at some point, but for now he was enjoying the solitude.
Ezekiel had no reason to believe that today would be calmer than yesterday. Yesterday he attempted to go to work, but quickly changed his mind when he ended up fighting off a couple of giant spiders that tried to kill him then use his body as an incubator for their eggs. Ezekiel was having none of that. He also saw the shadow of a ten foot tall crab but before it could see him, he barricaded himself in his house.
The only reason he ventured outside today was because the mist that had fallen on Salem lifted and now he could clearly see what was around him, it was obvious that all the monsters were gone for now. However, as he was fixing one of the computers in the museum he heard a long rumble. He stopped what he was doing and headed to a nearby window. That's when he saw the tornado heading in his direction.
Ezekiel ran as fast as he could out of that room and headed for the closest stairs. He managed to avoid a lot of the patrons that were running in various directions, obviously aware of the danger they were in. Erica shouted loudly when she collided with Ezekiel in one of the museum hallways. "What the fuck is going on? What should we do? We can't outrun a tornado," Erica told Ezekiel. They met a couple of days prior at a staff meeting. Erica didn't believe in talking to coworkers outside of what was necessary, but she was making an except for this emergency they were currently in.
"We need to get to the basement fast."
Erica nodded and followed Ezekiel. A few patrons that overheard what Ezekiel said followed suit. They weren't going to let themselves be killed. Ezekiel spoke with authority which led them to believe they were safe with him. It wasn't easy to know who to trust in this type of situation, but when fight or flight kicks in you have to follow your gut to the best of your ability.
The group was halfway down the stairs when the tornado ripped through the museum. Pillars started to fall down around them as the roof was ripped away from the walls of the museum. Expensive pieces of pottery shattered as the ground shook violently, rare works of art ripped in half and blew away as the walls that supported them disintegrated, and even though some people froze at the sight of this, the majority of them kept moving because they needed to get to the basement. Once everyone was in the basement they all laid down on the ground and covered their heads with their hands.
When it was over everyone rose from their spots. Erica looked over at the entrance of the room they were currently in, but it was covered with fallen bricks and pillars. They were stuck. She used her werewolf strength to move a few large pieces of brick, but it didn't help at all. Besides she worried that if she moved the wrong piece, it would all collapse on top of her and she wasn't interested in getting injured.
