"Thanks," said with another grin, first to Maurice, and then to Jesse, who told him quite effusively where the sign-up sheet was. He was fairly certain most people would know the song he planned to play. At least the end of it. He was seriously smiling so hard at the thought of the song he'd prepared. He just hoped he didn't get a case of the giggles at the part he had to sing with.
Staas handed his debit card over to the girl at the register, paying for the drinks and telling Theo to stop begging for a pastry. "Seriously, kid. You aren't Oliver Twist."
"I'm Theo Mooren!"
"Exactly. And Theo Mooren needs no more sugar at seven o'clock at night, okay?"
"Okay!"
Staas gave a slight, one-shouldered shrug. "It happens," he said, to Maurice, offering a smile smile to show he wasn't horribly offended. "No harm done."
