Who: Lucas Halstead and OPEN
Where: The Quill Café
When: December 30, 2009 – around lunch time (for some flexibility)
Rating: Probably PG but anything over PG-13 is pretty much impossible with the current characters.
Summary: Lucas tries to settle into the flow of the Quill Café
Notes: I have a tendency to manipulate some of the NPCs as well. (see especially the other workers at the café) If that is a problem for you, just let me know.
Thank god for prep work. By the time the lunch rush rolled around, most of the items on the menu were half done. All they needed was to be assembled, possibly cooked, and plated. The soups and pasta sauces were made a bit earlier this morning and practically all the necessary produce was sliced, diced or chopped. With all of that done, Lucas could spend less time in the kitchen frantically cooking and more time at the front. Aside from boasting much better air circulation, it was nice to interact with the customers.
Growing up in a small town, Lucas knew that when someone new moves in, it wasn’t uncommon for concerned citizens to check up on the new guy. Granted, these concerned citizens were often over the age of fifty. The younger generations seemed much more laid back about these sorts of things. He had already received the Spanish inquisition from a few ladies yesterday. To be honest, it was all he could do not to laugh as they asked probing questions about his family and where he went to church.
By comparison, today was quite uneventful. Everything seemed to be running pretty smooth. Not that you would catch him saying so. That would jinx it. Instead he just stood at the counter, greeting customers and taking orders for pick up, secretly thinking about how much better this was than his last job.
