After a moment of bickering over clean-up tasks that Staas eventually won, the Bosko siblings reluctantly retreated to the living room, where they were easily distracted with entertaining the children. (Or rather, asking the children questions about themselves to entertain Ori.)
Theo ran off as his father finished up in the kitchens, both of them returning with their hats on their heads and Ira’s in Staas’ hands. Ira gaily positioned his hat back on his head, raising an eyebrow at Theo for approval. “I can’t believe I forgot to bring my camera,” Ira commented, making a frame of his fingers around Theo’s face. “I think Ori brought hers, though.” Among other things, but he’d let her decide when to take those out. Soon, no doubt.
“I do!” Ori beamed, putting Alida’s sparkly sunglasses back on her face for her. “I study designer fashion, for ladies. That means I try to come up with cool ideas for styling clothes and putting together outfits for us girls to wear. I draw out sketches and then I make the clothes from the sketches I like. Then I show people in the business what I’ve done in a show, and if they think my clothes are good enough they’ll put ‘em in stores for people to buy! It’s fu—it’s pretty awesome.” Relieved that she’d caught herself in time, Ori quickly cast an admiring look over Alida’s clothes.
“You look like you have the makings of a designer, too. I wasn’t anywhere near that creative when I was your age,” she commented, quite honestly. “I love those shoes. Do you dance, too?”
