It was only out of habit that Koemi learned to put a blind eye to awkward implications and statements. Aside from her general naivety, she developed the skill to avoid uncomfortable misunderstandings with any parents or fellow staff. In any case, it wasn't rare for a child to publicly air their parent's private affairs and she'd have no part in making assumptions. Although, to be fair, Ira and Staas definitely seemed close.
Emi was half in-step to retrieve the children's belongings when Staas spoke up about needing the paperwork. Though she had no authority in their lives, she definitely felt relieved that they'd have an emergency contact in the area. She nodded, watching Theo run off to play with his friends again, "I'll be sure to let the other caretakers know that the children have an alternate contact. There shouldn't be any problem."
Checking that all of the kids were under supervision with other caretakers, she offered to lead Staas, Ira, and little Alida to the office. "There should be someone there. I'll come with and help you get the documents you need squared away?"
After getting the go ahead, Emi would take them down the spotless hallway that lead to the office. Out of habit she'd peek out of the corner of her eye as she passed the different classrooms. Just a short walk had them standing just inside of the office where an aid was stationed at the desk. Emi greeted her briefly before popping behind the desk to get the required paperwork and passing it off to Staas with a pen.
"You'll just need to fill out his personal information and sign consent. After that he'll be cleared to pick up the kids. Oh--" she turned to Ira as a thought struck her, "just be sure to have ID with you. The first few times you might have to show it if there's a new person on door duty."
Emi swung the office door open and held it for the other three as she motioned across the hall. "This room's empty today if you'd like to fill it all out there."
