Staas had to grin at Ira's first description of Lu. Weird. He'd been called weird a time or two or a thousand himself. He could appreciate that. Apparently so could Ira.
His smile stayed on his lips as Ira continued on, listening raptly through the tale of childhood love. He was definitely pleased that Ira's experience had taken a much happier path than his had, even though they had ended up hurting for a while. That was never fun, but at least their friendship had clawed its way back, years later.
He heard the wistful tone, knew all too well how that felt, and sent a sympathetic smile Ira's way. He shook his head as Ira spoke of his family's reactions. "It must be hard, since they're on the outside and can't really understand why these two wonderful people can't make it work. But if something's dead, you shouldn't try to bring it back. It doesn't work. Even if it seems to, it's wrong. Like. Zombies." Okay, that made sense in his head. But Buffy had been right, and Dawn should never have tried to bring their mom back. She wouldn't have been the same, and he firmly believed it was the same with relationships. If they were truly dead, trying to revive them would only result in horror.
