Staas rolled his eyes as he smiled up at Ira, his fingers trailing to Lady's chin. "Oh my god, you have no idea. I plan days in advance for the weekends, when I have to take them in to work. At least here I don't have to lug things back and forth. But I think not being able to go outside is going to catch up to us tomorrow."
He moved his hand and gently stroked the bridge of Lady's nose with just one fingertip. That earned him a little nudge with her head, which made him smile. There was a weird sort of vibe in the air, and Staas didn't put up with that sort of shit. If something needed to be said, he tended to say it.
So he looked up at Ira with a grin that wasn't quite as easy and natural as most of his expressions and said, "So, yeah. Sorry about the photo album thing. I guess that was kind of awkward for you?"
He knew Ira's stance on family was fierce, and though the younger man knew of Alida's adoption, he didn't know the full history at all, nor the fact that Theo's mom had only stuck around until he'd been born. Though that was probably fairly apparent after the pictures had been looked over. There were only three pictures of Theo and Beth together, and they were all taken in the hospital, the day he was born. He wondered if that unconventional piece of information, combined with Angel being "unwell," was enough to make Ira raise a mental eyebrow.
Not that he thought the guy would stop coming around, or that he'd like the kids any less. He knew Ira way better than that. But still. Staas would be the first to admit that his life was unconventional, and sometimes that didn't always sit quite right with people.
He pulled his hand away from Lady and reached for his chocolate instead, taking a bite. Bright kitty eyes seemed to follow the motion, and he grinned at her.
