Who: Maurice Osbourne and Staas Mooren
When: Thursday afternoon
Where: Maurice in his broadcast station--Mooren relaxing with the radio
Rating: PG most likely
Summary: Maurice happens to pick a song that Staas finds reason to get excited about.
Warnings: Maurice will most likely be tame enough, but perhaps in the company of Staas there could be a few choice words here or there...
Maurice slid into his seat with just a bit of frantic haste, pulling the headphones over his ears smoothly and preparing his hand over the console--he had almost forgotten that this was going to be the last song of the set. In a few seconds, the residents of Nearside (well, those who were listening, anyway) would get the dubious privilege of getting to hear Maurice speak a few words before moving onto the next set of whatever Maurice had scheduled--this wasn't a requests period right now, many apologies.
"Hope you enjoyed those last three, ladies and gentlemen--had a few dance-flavored alternative songs, starting with Andrew WK's 'Party Hard', 'Lucid Dreams' by Franz Ferdinand at second, which was followed by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs with 'Y Control'. If that's not your thing, stay tuned, because we might just have what you need coming right up." He paused briefly--just long enough to take a quick sip of his coffee.
"I am ashamed to say it, but as most of the regular listeners probably know, we end up with a rather fierce shortage of female vocalists on this station. So, I'm setting out to rectify that. We've got some Tegan and Sara coming up, but first we'll be starting the set with a little Bif Naked. As always, if you have any comments about the set, or about the idea to inject a little more estrogen into our library, or just to make some suggestions for the future, don't hesitate to call the station or shoot an email my way, and we'll see about accommodations. Enjoy." He turned off the mic, flicked the console, and slipped his headphones back off as the song struck up.
Maurice listened faintly, contemplating whether he had everything he needed to be comfortable for a while. Content, he eyed the receiver a bit absently. To tell the truth, Maurice never really got that many calls or messages unless it was a request hour, so he normally wouldn't be expecting it to ring, but for the revelation that there were going to--ideally--be a growing number of female artists being featured on the vocals. Maurice knew that that could be taken either way, really--some people just didn't enjoy listening to voices in the female persuasion, it seemed. In a way, he could understand why, but there were some pretty golden cords out there.
But he would see how it was accepted, eventually, wouldn't he?
