The Weasle and the Ferret Characters: George Weasley and Draco Malfoy and Dumbledore Date: September 12th, 1996 Location: The dungeons Rating: PG Summary: George shows up at Hogwarts Status: In Progress
A doorway opened in what had, a moment ago, appeared to be a perfectly ordinary dungeon wall. Clouds of acrid smelling smoke wafted out. A tall, broad-shouldered figure stumbled out, coughing as he held one sleeve up to cover his mouth. By George's count, he had died seven times. five of them in the last ninety seconds. The explosion at the end was a nice touch. He hadn't even noticed the Clinging Methane gas in the sewers, so when he used a fire seal to open the secret door, it ignited. The plus side was that the amulet Dumbledore had given him prevented any of the traps from actually killing him. After all, if he was going to do Dumbledore the favor of testing the school's defenses, the least Dumbledore could do would be to make sure he survived to report his findings. Still, seven deaths wasn't terribly good. If a larger force was careful enough, they could enter here with only a few casualties. Maybe if they weakened some of the support, so the fire trap at the end would cause a cave-in... At least the explosion had burned away the horrid smells of the sewers, although wisps of the foul smoke still clung to him. He'd need a shower, but all things considered, he smelled a lot better than he expected he would. He took a second to get his bearings. Fred and he had never used this exit during their time at school for two reasons. First of all it exited into a ravine fifteen miles away from school in the opposite direction from Hogsmeade, making it fairly useless for anything fun. Secondly, was the smell. Much better to leave through the Honeydukes passage. George pondered for a moment what defenses were there. A young dragon might do well. A good fireburst would roast anyone in the passage. He'd have to check that out next. Ah, yes, he was one level below Snape's office. He'd probably have to talk to the git to see if he had heard anything. George shuddered as he climbed the stairs to more inhabitable parts of the castle. There was a conversation he'd put off as long as possible. As he reached the landing at the top levels of the dungeon, he saw a familiar face.
