Mona figured that she should probably feel bad for laughing, but she couldn't help it. She thought that Miranda was setting herself up for disappointment if she hoped too much that their father wouldn't judge or evaluate her boyfriend. "It'll be fine," Mona insisted, thinking that Miranda was probably getting worked up about it for no reason. However their father was gonna be wasn't something they had control over, so there was no point getting worked up about it ahead of time. Which yeah, she knew that was kind of hypocritical of her, but it was still the truth. "Ooh," she said at the answer. She didn't really get, if Miranda had already met the kid, why it seemed Jasper didn't just tell his daughter about it, but whatever, right? It wasn't like she had any say in it. "Guess it's kinda sticky when there's a kid involved," she said, shrugging.
At the admission, Mona smiled almost hesitantly, and when Miranda continued, her smile softened as she chuckled. "Good to know it's not exactly unexpected, then," she said. She watched as Miranda pushed away from the table. "Yeah," she answered. "And just set those in the sink, I'll get to them later." She was looking forward to the cookies, and she was just happy that things seemed to be going so well with her sister.
