Mona snorted out a short laugh at that description and excuse. Of course Daddy was complicated. God forbid he ever be consistent and make any kind of sense. Giving a small shrug, she said, "Maybe, but I'm not holdin' my breath. It's gonna take us a hell of a long time to build up any kind of good relationship. It's not like you and me; Daddy and I have been antagonist to each other for a long time, but I think we're trying." She was trying, anyway, and Daddy had finally reached out and come over, she she thought he was trying too.
Eyebrows raising at that admission, Mona felt only a little small for the fact that it did make her feel a little better. "You're dating a guy you think Daddy might not approve of? Oh Miranda, you rebel," she teased lightly. "Why do you think he wouldn't approve?" she asked when Miranda mentioned not having told anyone much about Jasper. It made her very curious about him, though she wasn't really sure what was all right for her to ask. They were still working out what kind of sisterly relationship they had. "I doubt he's an ass; you wouldn't put up with dating an ass," she said musingly.
