“I know I didn’t, but I had free time this afternoon,” Miranda replied, stepping into the apartment. She slipped off her shoes and set her bag down beside them, smiling when Mona asked if she had brought something sweet. “It’s double fudge cookies, so yes, it’s something sweet,” she confirmed. “I found the recipe the other day and thought I’d try it.” She had been cooking a little more since she and Jasper had decided to work through a cookbook together; they hadn’t gotten too far into the book, but so far it was a good experience. She walked through to the kitchen and set the container down on the counter for the time being, they wouldn’t be getting into it until a little later.
“Which Italian place did you pick up from?” she asked. “And how did shopping and lunch go?” She knew that the relationship between Mona and Lauren was healthier than the relationship Mona had with their father, but she was still curious all the same.
