Summary: Soli has some news for Damien, news that could change their lives.
Completion: Complete
No matter how many times Soli told herself this wasn't happening, it didn't change the fact that it was happening, that that little positive sign had told her she was pregnant a week ago, and the doctor had confirmed it today. She had been hoping that the stupid home pregnancy test had been a false positive, but when the doctor confirmed it she wasn't proud of the way she had cursed at the doctor in three separate languages, only one of which he understood. Nor was she proud of the three hours she had spent wandering around Saks and avoiding coming home, avoiding Damien and the sheer fact that she would have to tell him the news. She wasn't above admitting she was scared as hell to tell him, scared what his reaction might be and what it might do to their relationship. It was a year ago today that they had reconnected and started down the road towards what they are now, and Soli worried that with a couple words that all of this would change.
Soli didn't have any idea what she wanted to do about this, but she came from a very Catholic family and just knew what her Mamã would do if she were to even consider an abortion. She wondered though if that's what she would have to do in order to keep what she had with Damien. All these questions raced through her mind on the drive back from Dallas to Fort Worth, and as she neared the apartment she tossed around the idea of simply going upstairs and waiting for Damien to come up after he closed the shop, but she knew that wasn't fair. She had already kept the information from him this long, she couldn't keep it to herself much longer, it was going to drive her insane if she did.
After she parked her SUV, she sat in the driver's seat for a good long time before taking a deep breath before she got out and walked around to the front of the shop, stepping through the door and flashing what she hoped was a pleasant smile in Damien's direction as he sat behind the counter. "Hey, Hermoso," Soli greeted him and even to her own ears she could tell her voice sounded odd, thin and almost scared. "Can you close the shop early?" She didn't want to tell him here, not when some stranger could come walking in while they talked. No, she wanted to tell him upstairs in the comfort of their apartment, where she might be close to the things she might need if Damien were to react poorly to the news. Though she didn't want to think he would, Soli couldn't help the jaded part of her that kept whispering that this would be too much for him, that they had just finally begun to find their rhythm again and now this would disrupt them.
