Lunch with Erica earlier had been a good start to Ezra's birthday, and spending the evening with Ariel was just the cherry on top of it really. Things had been progressing between them at a rate which he could only assume was more normal for a relationship, though he was a poor judge of what was normal or not as he didn't exactly have a lot of experience in that area. He wasn't going to really think on that too hard though, as she seemed happy with him and he needed to stop being in his head so much when it came to this. Ezra didn't necessarily have any concrete plans for the two of them for tonight, he had thought about maybe talking a talk in one of the parks later, though even that wasn't something that had to happen, he was simply content with being with her for the evening. Although he had told Ariel not to get him anything for his birthday, he had the sneaking suspicions that his girlfriend definitely wasn't going to listen to that, and he found himself hoping that whatever she did get him wouldn't be too extravagant. He really was more than happy with his gift being the fact that he was getting her all to himself for the night, but maybe he was just an easy man to please in that respect.
Nori was snoring at his feet as he sat in the living room upstairs reading a book and waiting for Ariel to show up. Neve had taken the girls out for their usual friday night movie night, having finally found time in her schedule and theirs for the four of them to go see 'The Lorax' though Shelby had pouted a bit before they left as she had wanted to see 'The Hunger Games' but it wasn't appropriate for Bryn or even Mack to see, so Ezra had made her a promise that they would spend tomorrow together, just the two of them and he'd take her to see the movie. He had read the books, so it wasn't like he didn't know what was going on with it, though he was preparing himself to have to listen to a bit of 'Oh my god, so-and-so was so cute,' afterwards, but he'd survive.
He knew the moment Ariel arrived, having both heard her truck and the fact that Nori snapped out of his deep sleep to go racing for the door. There were time's Ezra wondered if his dog liked Ariel better, but he always reminded Nori that he could like Ariel better, he just needed to remember who actually fed him.
