School of Thunder Closed by Jonathan Harper Terrel Lincoln, a former student at the School of Thunder, claims that he learned much more than Kung-Fu from Rand. "He taught me how to defend myself, sure. He's real good at that. But more than anything he taught me self-respect and discipline. Before I walked through the doors of his school I was in a real bad place, running with gangs to survive and doing all sorts of things I regret now. He took me away from that, practically by my ear, and taught me how to live and appreciate life. I will always be grateful to him for that." Long time friend of and another positive influence in the Harlem Community, Luke Cage, was as surprised by the sudden close as everyone else. "I have to believe that Danny has his reasons. This is a man who put his very heart and soul into the school and the things he was able to achieve through it, and would not close the doors unless he had a very good and compelling reason to do so. And whatever that reason is, I trust him." The now former Sifu was cryptic at best during the brief interview we were able to conduct with him, simply stating that "it is the hardest thing I have ever had to do but lately and especially after the alien invasion I have recognized that my school is too often a target. I tried to rebuild but right now I am just not comfortable putting my students at risk. Above everything else, my goal has always been to keep them safe and I no longer feel that I can do that." Upon further investigation it has been revealed that students who had been using the school as housing were adopted out all across the country with Rand personally overseeing many of the cases. As of this story it remains unclear what will become of the actual school. |
