Encrypted Phone Transcript
Who: Lex Luthor, Mercy Graves
When: Backdated, Monday August 12, 2013
Timestamp: August 12th, 2013, 9:00AM
(phone ringing)
Female Voice: Right on time.
Male Voice: Of course. Pierce delivered my message?
FV: Yes, and I've read it.
MV: I don't like what I'm hearing about the company's latest prospects. You're moving money OUT of R&D?
FV: Yes, and focusing it on other projects.
MV: I need an explanation.
FV: There's this thing that happens when the ex-CEO of a company goes "insane" and targets a large group of the population, Lex. Shareholders tend to not trust what he was working on.
MV: Careful, Graves. I don't--
FV: I AM being, careful. I'm being so careful with your company, Lex, that I'm making sure that I don't have to resort to selling it off.
MV: (silence, a slight huff of breath)
FV: So no more power armor for awhile. No more focusing our company on "alien space materials" or any of your pet projects. Why? Because this company is in my hands now and I'm doing damage control.
MV: What are you focusing on?
FV: Hardly anything, thanks to you.
MV: Graves.
FV: (an audible sigh) Computers. It's the only thing you didn't really have in the works before ... all of this.
MV: Computers. More details.
FV: I'm sorry, that's private LexCorp information, sir.
MV: GRAVES. (sound of a hand being smacked against a table)
FV: (silence) Nothing too grand, nothing government issue, but general public. Low priced laptops to kids in need, the kind that won't crap out on them in a month. Better, cheaper handhelds and tablets to shelters, charities.
MV: Good.
FV: Yes, the shareholders thought so too. But I decided to stay away from schools for now, since we already tried "helping" them.
MV: (a chuckle) Mercy darling, you've become so very verbose now that you're CEO. I'm not sure what to think of it.
FV: You don't really have a choice, now do you?
MV: No, not really. This is all good. I want a list of specifics of projects, packets, files, anything.
FV: Little bored with therapy already? How are your doctors?
MV: Abysmal. The latest links everything back to my father. Annoying, to say the least.
FV: Actually, from what I know about your father that makes a lot of --
MV: Graves.
FV: I have a meeting in ten minutes. I'll send Pierce back with what I can.
MV: Good.
FV: (silence) Lex?
MV: What?
FV: (longer silence) Nothing. Goodbye.
