There are a lot of individual spots to hang out, have a drink, or even live in NYX. Here we have them listed for your use in scenes:
NYX: The name given to the expanding mutant and mutant-sympathizer community in the far side of New York City. Also known as Mutie Town, District X, and, by the less affectionate terms, Freak Central.
'Burbs That is, the nicer part of the ghetto that is NYX. You know, the part where houses aren't covered in Friends of Humanity logos. More humans than mutants live here, and far more adults than teenagers.
Old City: Nickname used by NYX residents for the rest of New York City.
Promenade: The largest and most-populated area of NYX. Covers 10 to 15 blocks. Wolf's Den, Rough & Ready, Love is Blind Cafe, and The Wharf can be found within this area. Many apartments are also focused here. Most activity happens here, both good and bad.
Blue Lake Apartments: Blue Lake Apartments only fits one part of it's name, for it is indeed an apartment building. However, it is not blue nor does it have a lake. The owner insists it did at one time, and fondly points to a man-made pond out back as proof. It's not really the nicest of places, but it works for those on fixed incomes. Sure there are a number of pests now and then, and the water runs cold after 5 minutes of use, but most of the apartments are studios that go cheap and the freight elevator is still kicking. Most mutants use the place temporarily, for a springboard to nicer places like the Ivy Towers, so there's always a room up for rent.
Dell Romaine Apartments: The word "apartments" in the title of the Dell Romaine building is somewhat misleading. Located on the border of the Old City, this residence is one of the nicest in town. For a rather hefty sum, tenants are granted access to multiple bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and top of the line amenities. However, between the fact that the owner doesn't particularly like to rent to mutants and the astronomical rent, this particular abode is out of reach for most of NYX's residents.
Ivy Towers: On the outskirts of the Promenade, near the Ghetto, lies the Ivy Towers Apartment Complex. From the outside, this huge grey block of a building looks more like a prison then any sort of home. On the inside though, it's a well maintained residence. Not fancy, but the heat works perfectly, the pipes are well maintained, and the biggest problem is that the ice machine is constantly broken. Ticker, Tabby, Changeling, and Liam all live here.
The Gemini: Put together the Super 8 Motel for cheap prices and the Hilton hotels for quality, and you've got yourself the Gemini. The beds are covered with satin sheets, you get breakfast-in-bed, and the pool is never too cold or too hot. The hitch? You gotta be a well-to-do mutant to even work here, much less spend the night. Mutants-only, no humans allowed to rent.
Fenris International: A mutant bank. Yes, you hear that right, mutants own a bank. Shhh, don't tell Switzerland! Mostly upper-class mutants, such as Fenris Int.'s owners Andrea and Andreas Von Strucker, use the banks while the rest of the city prefer to just stick the money under their mattress. Its rumored that Fenris also runs almost every mutant-owned business business in NYX with the exception of Wolf's Den and other such "un-civilized" places.
Rough & Rowdy: The strip club set exactly across from Wolf's Den. Despite the best efforts of Wolf's Den loyalists, it remains in business to this day. It's known to service mostly mutants, but it's rumored to host meetings for the Friends of Humanity.
First Church of Christ, Mutant: The pastor and founder is human, but most assistant pastors are mutants. It professes that Jesus was Jesus, but that he was a mutant with healing and empathy, etc. It also acts as a seminary for mutants. Run by truly good hearted people with no current ties to any major religious organization or, surprisingly, any gang. The concept is ultra controversial, and offensive to many, but they selflessly serve their community regardless. Mutant and humans alike are free to ask for protection here and for good reason; one of the permentant residents can erect pretty damn powerful shields, making this a perfect place to hide.
Parker Clinic: Local clinic located near the 'Burbs. Staffed with both human and mutant doctors. Also doubles as a dentist office. This is a good place to be if you're hurt, as they don't discriminate based on genes. However, if you have been in anything remotely illegal, they won't hesitate to take you to the cops.
Winfrey Cruise's Home for Orphaned Misfits: A well-known haven for the youngest of mutants. It's run by Ms. Gia and sponsored by the billionare Winfrey Cruise -- though Ms. Cruise rarely visits the place herself. Close to 100 children live here from ages 11 to 18. It's also home to the homeless but they have to have a job to live here, and help out with the kids. This is considered major neutral territory, and many a gang war has been started over incidents happening near or even in the Home. Lobo sends most mutant kids this way.
Unity Park: Not a major landmark, but a semi-decent park that is part of the quickest general walking route from the Promenade to the area around the college. It isn't over-run by druggies or homeless, and is fairly well kept up. It was a pet project of a local councilman wanting to look as though he supports the mutant community, without really doing much of value for them. The park is nice enough, and has a nice iron gate around the perimeter to try and keep pedestrians on the main sidewalks, and protect the grass somewhat. There are entrances on all sides, and concrete walks throughout. Grass, trees, benches etc are present. plenty of lightposts that work... it isn't bigger than two blocks square maybe more maybe less depending on how anyone else may want it to be...
Crazy Lady Mechanic Shop: Mechanic shop that works on clocks, cars, TVs, DVD/VCRs, anything mechanical. Fairly expensive, but it's the closest place and won't talk about those bullet holes in your truck side.
Love Is Blind Cafe: Little cafe with old-fashioned tastes. Holds poetry readings every Saturday and Sunday night. Lobo likes to drink coffee here. Famous for its eclairs.
The Rosetta Stone: An old VW van with no wheels or windows; serves as a bulletin board for wanted signs and a map of the neighborhood marked with up-to-date gang boundaries, warefare info, and treaty reports. There's also free condoms, a mail service, stale cookies, and the latest People issue. Run by the mutant Express and guarded by his dog Snapper.
The Wharf: A sushi house. Run by a six-armed mutant by the name of Din.
Wu's Chinise Herbs & Such: A sort of mini-Wal*Mart for the Promenade. Owned by the widow, Mrs. Wu and her daughter, Wu Li. Also doubles as an acupuncture and a massage spa/school.
