With the death of Khaos and our godlings' lives changed one last time, Mythopoeics is over. We managed just near two years and whether you have been here for the whole run or just a couple of months you have helped make this game get that far.

As we noted before, this place will remain open for freeplay. This means plots amongst yourselves and development you'd like to go for will be allowed. We ask that for freeplay you please use the !aftermath tag. We know that there are many desired or wanted characters still for your characters but, for now, we are not going to allow in new characters. Old players are free to come back with their characters as long as they give us a nudge over at the modbox. We will say something if and when we feel people can app in casually played myth characters.

We do have a strange perk for you: the characters who fell during these last couple of months can still be played! However, they can only be played as ghosts. They will also need the !ghost tag to avoid confusion. They are able to post as a minor ability in death but that's about it. And, yes, they can be exorcised or move on if you like. But once that happens, that is it. If you character also dies during freeplay, the !ghost tag will be an option to them.

Finally, we thank you all for playing here and hanging in until the end. We've gone through a number of mods, changes, have hit road bumps and more but managed to get this far. We are sorry that we couldn't push the game further but this game always had an end game planned and now was the right time for it. Feel free to talk about what happens to your characters now in the ooc if you like.

Hey guys!

This post here is something you'll need to know about the next event and any that follow it. From now on, if your character dies, they stay dead. There is no coming back this time. However, characters will not know this until after the upcoming event. So be sure to pick this option carefully if you want to go down this route!

PBs and that character will not be applicable or be allowed to be used again as this is a true character death.

We also want to add that applications and reserves will close at the end of the month. So if you really, really want to get someone in for these last couple of months, do it now. We are working hard on wrapping up things in a unique and helpful way. Thank you for sticking with us for as long as you have and please enjoy what is to come. ♥

Hey Godlings!

A few of you might remember that a while back we mods began considering a closing date for Mythopoeics. As you all know we've been running for two years, and we closing in to what we feel would be a good ending for the overall game arc we've had. We have also taken into consideration that a lot of our players are busy and activity has been declining. So with those two things in mind, we feel that it is best to go out with a bang, wrap up our storylines and end this game neatly.

Therefore we have planned this end date to be early December. Before then, there will be events to urge forward the characters to reaching an end with Khaos. The spiral downwards has already started with our current fairy event, and at the end of this event we have something planned to help guide characters forward onto the next stage of the final act of Mythopoeics.

As always, we urge you all to speak up and give us any thoughts here, and yes we do have plans for an 'epilogue' comm where players will be able to spam to their hearts content after our end.

Hey godlings!

As the month approaches the end, we just want to let you know we are going to get back on track with events! We wanted to give folks a chance to adjust this month after Zurvan, to work out any details necessary and feel more comfortable. But October will be featuring two events, one earlier in the month and the other later. We think you'll find both to be very interesting and expect the second to be up there with things getting extra baffling and dangerous.

Khaos, who has been strangely silent, will return again in October as well. This will begin to push our game plot forward once more. Kala and the somewhat disenchanted but stuck Chiconahuiehecatl will also show up, of course.

Finally, we wish to remind all of our recent changes which can be read about again here. The activity check will go on as planned on October 1st.

Howdy folks!

With no more Zurvan we are going to bring in a few changes to the overall structure of the game. This is hopefully, to provide more playing times for all, more plotting goodness and such. So here:
First: Activity Check; Will change to one post per month. We do, however, expect the posts to be more substantial than one or two sentences please! See here for more. Also note that character application slots are open now all the time, so you're free to request whenever (begin, middle, end of the month) up to a total of three. There is one catch however: should you want to increase your character roster, your activity should be more than the one post/thread requirement. ie. If Tea wants an extra slot or two, she'd have to make sure most her characters have at least one post and ten comments at the time of her request. This will only apply next month and onward as we currently have given everyone (current or new) five slots so enjoy ♥

Second: Players who have more than two characters are also now exempt from character samples. We have discussed this and feel that you guys have done a wonderful job with your kidlets, as such we trust you. Should you want to do samples regardless, you're more than welcome to, but a lack of samples does not count against your application. However, should we be on the fence about your character we mods may request samples in order to make a final decision. This applies as of right now.

Third: Plot posts will now be done twice a month, once at the beginning, and the second towards the middle of the month.

Slightly belated but this is your official post to say that Zurvan has finally ended. See here for many details but in short:

→ The living will wake where they want in NYC.
→ They will remember all as they have since the 20th.
→ The deceased will return any time during this month, that is up to the player.
→ A strange mix of Zurvan and the real world has occurred.
→ Of course, no more use of the !zurvan tag. Just remember to keep tagging posts with your character!

zurvan end plans

Hey dearlings!

With the end of Zurvan upon us (the 31st, 11:59 PM EST), we thought we'd announce some things related to the end as well as next month and about the game overall. This will not be cut as we want to be sure no one misses it.

So let's tackle how Zurvan will be handled once people are back in NYC first:

ZURVAN END


→ People will all have their full memories of the place. As noted before, those not revealed purposefully or just unaware of themselves will be remembered by their mortal names. This should be a lot more simple than erasing memories or causing a blur. They can also wake up in NYC wherever they please. Whether in the beds of their (former) spouses or in stranger places.

→ We also thought to offer an option of what are calling transfer. It's the player's choice to take something back from Zurvan, like Pheme returning with her uncle's dog tags or Fuujin returning with his kimonos. This applies to the children or other family as well. How this might work depends on the players and we'll try to explain this as best we can:

• Siblings and children that are taken back with the godlings could be same relations as they were in Zurvan or find themselves in the position of being close relations somehow. Keep in mind that if there is more than one player involved that all players involved should agree on this. For example: Bastet who is mother to Amina as we understand, could return to be a single mother in NYC to her daughter (whose age could be fixed to suit the NYC life) or an elder sister to a younger sister named Amina. That player would have to modify things as she sees fit.
• Pregnancies, the few that we have, can also be transferred over. Keep in mind that if there is more than one player involved that both players involved should agree on this. However, the length of the pregnancy can shirt from eight months to two months if that suits someone. For example: Pasithea, who we understand to be rather hugely pregnant right now, could return with Hypnos' child while only at three weeks along. Or she could be minutes from giving birth. That player can modify it as she sees fit.

Overall, this is to show that the Zurvan world, while cruel and disruptive, has started to tangle itself in reality. Histories are being modified in the real world and these new beings or to-be new beings are involved as if they always had been there. It's getting chaotic, if you will. No one is under any pressure to do any of this. We simply thought it would be a fun option to jumble up some lives and introduce more elements of chaos.

→ Other chaotic elements will include:

• The sudden inclusion of places and names from both Zurvans in the real world. This is up to the players and depends on the roles they had in both Zurvans. For example: Galahad, who has always had a family business and was Czar of Iriy, would be head of Iriy Corporation in NYC. Heimdall, who had been king of Glastheim, might find his practice is named after that location and so forth. Percival, who had been part of the Niflheimian army, could be part of an organization against the Iriy Corporation.

• Some characters may even find that what they had been good at in Zurvan (aka that particular skill set) has taken over whatever they were good at in NYC. For example: Polyxena was a war nurse in Zurvan and a psychiatrist in NYC. However, she now remembers more about being a nurse than a psychiatrist. Or she may remember both. She can also not be affected at all by this. In the end, just be realistic and reasonable with their skill. Don't overdo it and remember no one is flawless.

→ The dead returning will be a gradual thing. We leave it up the players to decide when they want to bring back their deceased characters this month but all deceased characters should be back by 11:59 PM EST on September 30th. They will all have their own burdens from death to deal with, depending on who they are and what happened to them.

NEXT MONTH


Now, in relation to September, we are offering all players up to five slots without needing to asking for them. Everyone gets them regardless of how many characters you have. No hassle, no fuss, just go for it. Please remember, however, that we still expect applications to be held up to our usual standard.

This gorgeous guideline should be considered if find yourself unsure of what we mean. In short, though, we expect characters presented to us to have reasonable weaknesses that are not redeemed or can be brushed off. The personality should be well-balanced without being a mess or lack flow for sake of comprehension. We like to see characters be able to connect with their myths and be well-woven to reflect a reincarnate that could be a modern-day version of that myth character in a sense. The biggest thing is that we are a myth game and should never be mistaken for an OC game.

ABOUT THE GAME


Lastly, pleased be assured that we have NOT set an ending date yet. The December suggestion was strictly that - a suggestion. This especially if people feel that they still have much they can do in this game and wish to explore more characters. As you all know we aim to give you all the best we can and nothing will ever be set in stone unless we see a reason to do so or everyone feels satisfied.

We definitely want to make this ending experience different and give people something to deal with once they are back in NYC. Also, please feel free to use this post as a plot post for all that has been discussed above!

Hey guys!

We have been thinking some things over since our last two mod posts and have decided that due to the disruptions of August, we will break open everyone's memories of their true selves on the 19th, 11:59 PM EST. Whatever state your character knew themselves in NYC they will remember now. There will be a plot post for this as well.

Zurvan is still set to end at the end of the month and there will be an end post for that about the consequences and so forth. Any current game plots are more than free to be continue or push forward as you see fit.

This post will have screened comments in case many of you feel this isn't the way you want things to go just yet. We will definitely hear you all out on this and we encourage you to please work with us to see this unfortunate pause through.

Hey lovelies.

We know that the game has come to a sudden halt due to personal matters as well as vacations. Your mods have been struggling with both those matters as well. We also know that many of you have been uneasy with how this Zurvan was handled and for that we apologize. We are hoping when it comes to NYC, that things will resume to their normal level. We acknowledge that the past couple of months did not go as planned but hope that the continuation of the normal game plot as well as any effects from Zurvan will help in what is to come.

July and August will not be held against anyone when it comes to reserves and slots in September. As stated before, no AC is expected for this month. If you are around, please continue as much as you can with plot and so forth, especially when people return. We will try to get an update post up soon.

Last but not least, as you all know mythopoeics is a game with an overarching plot. We mods have been discussing this and have been considering December 2012 as the ending date for the game. This is to tie in with the whole 2012 themes and to go out with a nice bang. Although this isn't set, we wanted to let you guys know this in advance so things can be tied up nicely with the final plot. Though this will be the end for mythopoeics, we will likely be opening up a second musebox to serve as a freeplay sandbox if you have any desire to play out events post the closure of the game.

Hey guys!

So we have been talking and we have noticed that a lot of things have been going on to slow down things with the plot or overall gameplay. Taking that into consideration, we are excusing the AC for July and August. This does not mean that we expect people to stop playing, however. This means that those on necessary hiatus can relax and those in-game don't need to feel pressured in scrambling for posts and comments when things are so slow. But we do expect our players to do their best to keep up with plots and plot posts, please.

And we want to thank everyone hanging in there with us and everything. We know we have had a couple of rough months but we are going to seriously try to work this out. And if there is ever something you need to come to us about, please do (by email or our modbox. We want to try to do what we can for our players.

Hey everyone!

As you all have heard, we're are currently restructuring and changing a few things in order to do things as efficiently as possible for you all. ♥

➡ On the list of updates is modship; due to Lindsey's drop and the fact we've had different people contributing at times, we've decided to do away with the individual mod information. There have been many important individuals that have aided and helped the growth of the game at different points and considering that not all are available constantly or at the same time, we've decided it is better to ferry questions directly to the mod email (which has been updated) or the modbox so that we can close track of and the appropriate people can handle the different issues that may arise.

➡ To help this out we have changed the mod email, which you can find in the contact list, mod journal profile and our modbox. Do not hesitate to use it if you have any questions, doubts, problems.

➡ On the topic of our mod e-mail, it has changed! From now on, please use mythopoeics @ gmail DOT com to contact us via e-mail. We will continue to check the hotmail account for a little while longer but it should not be used any more.

➡ As most of you know, our application page has not been functioning properly so we have changed the page and are in the process of updating links. If you find any wrong links please let us know here so that they may be corrected promptly.

➡ Leading from there, we asked Angie to provide us an application FAQ. She has whipped up a brilliant one and we encourage everyone, current, old and new to look at it as it greatly will help any issues one might face while applying!

➡ Still on that topic, we will also be dropping our app cycle. We receive a steady amount of apps throughout the month and our trial with May has proven that we won't have a problem tackling apps all month long. We hope this will be beneficial to all applicants. Reserve periods of three days remains, of course (along with the extensions that can be requested and given).

Special announcement!


We know that with two new pantheons (Chinese and Shinto) opening up very, very soon (11:59 PM EST tonight and we'll place a temporary comment on the reserve page to mark that) we wanted to do something for everyone apping or planning on it.

Due to the high interest, we'll allow everyone with seven characters or less to reserve up to four characters at a time. Those who requested at two slots can have one more (bringing them up to three). This is optional but we thought it would be nice so no one has to wait if they really would like to bring in more.

This also will be helpful when we have the planned world shift sometime next month and we know how much harder it is to introduce new characters then.

Hey guys, two important announcements for our coming application round.

1) By special request, we've upped the slot limit to two a month. Please remember that slot requesting is only for those who have reached their character limit. More information on here.

2)[info]mythologica our storylines community is up and running. For those unfamiliar with how it works here is a basic rundown. You're interested in playing a character but want to know if other people want it? Can't grab a bunch of people just over AIM? Go ahead and post! If you know someone who is thinking of apping and they want to bring in some lines before entering? Direct them over and post ♥ Please make sure that at least one of your characters is watching the community. Watch/Join here. Zurvan is over, but only for now. We'll have a feedback post up in a couple of days but we wanted to attend to this post first to make sure all goes smoothly. Please read carefully as the choices of other people will reflect how much one remembers.

First off, everyone will wake in their homes. From here, things will depend upon players.

If a character was known (as in known as their true selves) and around before Zurvan, then they will be remembered as well as maintain memories of their time in Zurvan. In short, things will resume as they had from before Zurvan plus the false lives they experienced. This is the least complicated.

If a character was introduced during Zurvan or have not yet had a chance to reveal themselves, they have the option of holding back everyone's memories of their true selves until the player is ready to reveal that character. So if someone decides they want the introduction of their character's true self on a date of their choosing, everyone will have trouble remembering until that character reveals themselves. And when they make it known of who they are, then, as if the floodgates were opened, people (who were notified - public or privately) will realize who that blurry figure was in their Zurvan memories.

For example, say Odr chose to keep himself a blurry and unknown figure. Freyja, among all others, would have trouble remembering anyone named Odr, including a physical description. Even Odr would have trouble remembering what happened in the past two months. But once he let it be known to someone or to everyone, they those memories would clear up. He can also opt to remember but not tell anyone. People would still be fuzzy but he wouldn't.

In short: that character's decisions after remembering dictate when others do but the player's initial decision on how to handle the character starts off everything.

Naturally, if a character is fine with being remembered from Zurvan, then that is that and they will probably be poked and pondered about by other characters.

Please do reply to this post about the following characters or any that we have missed so we can note here how all should treat them.

List of Characters )

Second, two months is a long time. Much can happen in two months. Births, marriages, parties, someone having moved in next door and, yes, deaths. This post can also be used to announce any major changes your character's life could have gone through while they were living a false life. For example, Freyja's husband could have finally been announced as deceased in the time she was away. Or there was a major lead in Syrinx's case. Life changing events. Again, feel free to list things here or be done in IC posts.

Just adding that no character was noticed to be missing. Family, friends, co-workers, they'll behave as if your character had always been around. It will be weird and uneasy, adding to the confusion. But they will not have any memory of being around these past two months.

Third, some characters suffered injuries or even death. The dead ones will be revived but please keep in mind that death should never be taken lightly. They have died and then been brought back, toyed with by a higher power. Realistically play with that with however your character would cope with such a thing. With injuries, you do not need to bring those over to NYC. However, if you want bring over some injury or all, that is up to you! We do want you players to be able to have that choice.

Fourth, we are going to handle the issues of Kala and Khaos. Just give them a little time to figure out what happened as well. They are very confused and irritated deities right now.

Remember, we will have a way to address anyone not ready to continue having their character be known widely when Zurvan ends. This need not be a permanent reveal of characters not ready to be revealed to the public or even to themselves.

Hey everyone! While the activity check is going on we wanted to bring up something important:

Zurvan will be ending February 29th. This is pretty much a notice for you guys to know how to wrap up and handle any plots you have for Zurvan before then (unless you want things to end in an unresolved way!). There will be a week toward the end of the month when the begin to remember who they really are just to cause some chaos among them before this major plot ends. There will be another post to address things (especially relating to Khaos and what choices people have for then they return to NYC) when the time is right and when we know what to offer. We just wanted to at least tell you all when we wanted to end this plot. We also thought that the 29th would be fabulous to end on since it exists only every four years. We are a bit silly this way.

And as we have a date now for when Zurvan will end, we are filling in any major positions not filled in:

CAMLANN
→ Memitim, the diplomat

ILIUM
→ Keres, the faction leader

SVARGA
→ Cihuateteo, the diplomat

Yes, they will be replying to faction-filtered posts and perhaps others. They have no knowledge of their pasts, just like all the others though may begin to remember sooner than others. Khaos and Kala are in Chiconahuiehecatl's court. They are well known for bickering and having split the court mostly in two. The other NPCs are around: the Utukku will be in Mictlan and the Valkyrie in Glastheim. They are faction members but only in name for now. Don't bother filtering to them, they aren't likely to reply.

So please check this and tell us if your character is still NOT LISTED still. In fact, please nudge us about anything that needs a poke that we did not remember to touch upon. Your mods are getting over hectic January now.

We do want to announce that our mods all RL busy at this time but are trying to process things as quickly as possible. We will attend to the application add-ons but don't hesitate to play with your Zurvan-version characters. Add-ons are mainly for the masterlist of applications (now available!) and not having them turned in should not hinder you.

We also would like to ask that you tag all IC posts (logs and main comm) and all OOC posts related to Zurvan with the tag !zurvan. This will keep things tidy for when things shake up again in the future.

[info]mythopoeics has made the jump (or most of it) to IJ. We still have a number of tweaks but for the most part we won't delay any longer.
