zurvan facts and more
As we get further into things, we thought we would introduce some facts and details about the regions. Don't worry about this too much as we already have informed you of how each regions is influence by a place in our world. This is mostly for fun and some things have been mashed up a little just because we want to add in our own flavor.
We'll expand this more when we wriggle around and see what other fun things we can add in. Feel free to toss in region-appropriate suggestions or even inquiries! We know we didn't quite get everything we would have liked. Remember, no one has to perfectly fit a mold or an idea, but each region does have its own ways, beliefs and so forth.
BABYLON:
→ It is the site of some of the oldest ruins in the history of the Zurvan world. Much of it is still being explored today.
→ Coffee is one of their major exports and only the best of coffee comes from here. They are also known for their rich sweets and honey.
→ If one really wanted to know how to dance, a Babylonian instructor MUST be had.
→ Harems are very common here.
→ If one has multiple spouses or desires them, they must equally treat their spouses or face punishment for being too greedy. Generally this means fines but it can also come to jail time.
→ It's not at all uncommon for someone to be descend from a woman who was long ago kidnapped and brought over as a foreign wife. This custom, however, has become illegal and also carries heavy legal consequences.
→ It is one of the most liberal regions.
→ Though laid-back majority of the time, they are also very passionate and can be pretty emotional.
weddings
→ Their weddings usually last for four to seven days. Royal weddings are especially crazy if the match is approved by the people.
→ They tend to dress very colorfully and in the richest of fabrics and most glittery of jewels. No expensive is spared.
funerals
→ TBA
→
CAMELOT:
→ Their actors and theater are the best among all regions, particularly comedy and tragedy. Most come here to get recognized and to make it really big.
→ They kind of love tiny sandwiches. They don't really know why themselves but they love them. Probably because they go so well with tea or because they fondly remember cramming their pockets as children with a bunch of them.
→ As peacemakers, this region tries it damned best to grin-and-bear-it until it can't anymore. In general, this is a typical tactic of theirs when things are rough.
→ For one reason or another, many from the region just can't hold their liquor as well as some other regions. But they still love it.
→ As much as they love humor. Good jokes and even some bawdy humor tend not to be severely looked upon but welcomed.
→ Everyone makes fun of their accents. Everyone. They deal. They also know their weather can be shoddy but thank you for telling them for the hundredth time.
→ They have some of the best farming land among all the regions.
→ Overall, they are very friendly, welcoming people in most situations. Probably the most, some say.
weddings
→ Their weddings are a happy, festive affairs, often held outdoors, in the mornings and ending before mid-afternoon.
→ The common colors for the weddings here are white and black for the bride and groom but everyone else will be expected to be colorful. And expect there to be a lot of hats.
funerals

IRIY:
→ It is very typical to be lectured about the care of your child from older members of the region, even those you don't know. It's not criticism to be taken personally but to offer a sense of that everyone's in a community and affected by another.
→ Men are expected to behave like gentlemen, from holding open doors to giving gifts and even kissing the hands of women. And the unmarried of both sexes will be judged and prodded for being unmarried. It's out of concern, often.
→ Bragging is vulgar. Don't do it.
→ Always bring a gift with you when visiting someone.
→ Speaking of money loosely isn't considered decent which files under do-not-brag. Do not even hand money into someone's hands but place it down to be taken. It's believed that energy can be transferred through that money, especially any negative energy and it's best for you to not hand it over but step away from it to break any link you had with it.
→ They aren't the most emotional sorts but they will never hold it over your head if you are late (patience > punctuality).
→ Never challenge an Iriyian to a drinking contest. You will lose. And they will toast everything. Everything. They love to get their drink on and when a bottle of liquor has been opened, it must be finished.
→ They are the only region with a wealth of oil fields, even if some have not been discovered or worked on yet. They also have precious minerals. Overall, they use these for trading for what they don't have.
→ As a superstitious region, here's a taste of some of their beliefs (see Russian superstitions for more):
• Never give even flowers. These are strictly reserved for funerals. Only odd and never yellow as yellow signifies an end is coming.
• Table corners are no place for a girl. It will mean she will not marry for seven years.
• Do nothing over a threshold as it divides people. Handle any partings, greetings or exchanges of gifts away from it.
• Women must also never sit on something cold or it's believed they will be childless.
• Yawning is rude and it's believed a devil might enter you when you do so.
weddings
→ Their weddings are respectful affairs, solemn with plenty of pretty bell chimes that indicate a particular moment during the wedding ceremony. There is a lot of religious influence here. They are often held in the morning and last for long hours.
→ They are also all about white and black, though a military man would be expected to wear his uniform. The bride often has fur on her gown as well.
funerals

NIFLHEIM:
→ This region is very popular for the liquor is produces, particularly beer.
→ They also can easily boast of the best hunting areas in all of Zurvan with a wide variety of targets and land. This makes some of their meat products desirable as well.
→ They hold their cigarettes between their thumb and index finger.
→ They also signal 'three' with their fingers using their thumb, index and middle finger.
→ Wedding rings are worn on the right hand. But if you are engaged then it should be on the left.
→ Yellow and tea roses are acceptable gifts. Be cautious with red roses as they are, of course, romantic.
→ Punctuality and politeness are very much prized by the region. Do not fail in such areas if aiming to impress or maintain a good image of yourself.
→ They love a tidy, well-kept home, taking great pride in where they live. But they also do not let just anyone into their homes, believing it to be a private area. Formal meetings are best never had at home.
→ They are a region that plan, plan and plot. Never underestimate just how far they have thought everything through.
→ Don't fail to shake someone's hand and that includes the children.
→ This region is one of the two more advanced that others, particular in engineering.
→ They hold their liquor as well as Iriy.
weddings
→ Their weddings are not entirely reserved but overly cheery. There is drinking and dancing, of course, but there is also a lingering sense of pride and unity, that it's serious business.
→ Veils are uncommon and brides enjoy wearing flowers instead. Pale colors are acceptable for them but grooms are always in black or in uniform.

RYUGU-JO:
→ Tea is an important part of their culture and is one of their major exports. No one region has tea like Ryugu-jo.
→ Their fish > yours. Considering their location and power, it's naturally that all things related to the sea are their strengths. They strongly dominate this industry and can be even considered aggressive about it.
→ The elderly are to be deeply respected. In general, age is something that demands respect and obedience. To go against it would shameful and wrong.
→ They are quite possibly even more formal than Niflheim.
→ And, like Niflheim, are one of the two most advanced regions in a variety of fields. You name it and they are probably ahead of the others, just neck-n-neck with Niflheim in being the best. Yet they prize traditional life in the way Niflheim sometimes does not.
→ Never wear shoes within the house. It's just not done.
→ Almost every home will have a garden.
→ They also aren't all that good at drowning themselves in liquor.
weddings
→ Their weddings are some of the most formal, guided by centuries of tradition. It's often the very last stage of the wedding when people feel a little more lightened up.
