[Amidst Euterpe getting him out of the hospital prematurely, Gabriel had caught glimpse of War in one of the rooms on the same floor as his. It was about the only thing he managed to remember from his sedated haze -- and thankfully too since he had wanted to visit. Gabe still has family and Apollo to check up on but War was the closest in terms of travel. Before even reaching his destination he had been stopped by a few nurses who had recognized him. In fact from some of the cautious looks he got, Gabriel was willing to assume that quite a few recognized him from his brief stay. After talking with the nurses, reassuring them that he was making leaps and bounds in his recovery, and gladly lifting his shirt so they could check his bandages -- Gabriel was lead to the room where War was, just as her mortal parents were leaving.
After their interactions over the computer and initial meeting it was almost strange to see her so peaceful. Good, as he presumed the more out of it she was the less pain she was in, but Gabriel knew it was most likely not by her own volition. He could have waited, or given his gifts and further condolences to D to pass on -- but there was something about visiting the Horseman personally, given their first encounter, that seemed more appropriate and symmetrical.
At the beginning of the end he was to present her with a sword. But since it was neither he instead had a medium sized flower arrangement and a hastily wrapped pair of Hulk hands he set on the table next to her bed. Perhaps shopping while still on painkiller medication wasn't the best idea but at least he had enough sense to have decided against getting a bunch of 'get well' balloons for her. It was the thought that counted, and given he was partial to calling the tiny brunette Hulk -- it was fitting.
The archangel took the empty seat at her bedside and sat with her as long as he could; praying silently as he took her hand in his. He even spoke to her quietly --words of encouragement, gratitude that she had returned to their current time, and actual praise for her fight and the strength she had exhibited-- though she was hardly conscious and unreliably so. While holding her hand he could see the name on her ID bracelet and smiled to himself. Asya Crawford. The mystery was finally solved but he still preferred the nickname, or some variation of it. Gabriel stayed for well over an hour and until he heard her parents returning from lunch or wherever they had gone. Before departing, the archangel leaned down and pressed a lingering, innocently affectionate kiss to the Horseman's forehead.]
