omg where do I even start. I'll break them off into sections.
His real family: Has enough family issues for four people. His family issues have lasted all the way from his first life into this way: basically, that he's never been good enough, Gawain will always be better, he feels like he has to continuously compete to win his parents' favor (or at least one of them, now). Being second son has always been a problem to him, especially living in Gawain's shadow. In that life and this, he's consistently been trying to outdo Gawain. This has all lent to his inferiority-complex, which pretty much no one knows about at this point in time. And now--
Gawain: The problem with Gawain is that he loves him, he really does. He respects him and looks up to him, but at the same time, resents him for being first born, which is totally not Gawain's fault at all, but he still holds it against him like it is. After all this time of knowing him in this life, he feels less obligated to have to outdo him, yet still the feelings of inferiority linger. Things have been improving on this front, at least. He still wishes he was first born, though.
His mortal family: In this life, he was again born the second child, after his sister. And so the cycle continues. The difference with Naomi and Gawain is basically like night and day. He doesn't admire his sister like he does Gawain. Doesn't look up to her or respect her or really pay much attention to her anymore. It's not that his family in this life doesn't mean anything to him, just that his true one means more.
When it comes to his younger brother, he feels about as overprotective of him as he would his true younger brothers. It's just easy to hate him because his brother's done more with his life, has achieved more, and is the favorite son. Vaine is basically doomed to be the least favorite son or something.
Pheme: Gets her own section because he feels much differently about her than the rest of his family. Initially, he was very wary of her, unsure of what his sister knew what the fuck she was doing when she shipped Pheme off to him. Over a year down the line, things are transitioning much more easily. He doesn't quite regret how he first felt, but he does understand somewhat that he shouldn't have assumed how things were going to turn out.
His issue with Pheme is that he loves her, more than he ever thought he could. He assumed his relationship with her would be chaos because of how they both are individually, but she's really grown on him, especially after the first Zurvan. Since she was his daughter, he's determined a lot of paternal feelings for her on top of his other feelings. Which is fucking weird for him, because he's never been a father, nor did he ever plan to be. But being a father to Pheme just felt so right, so perfect. Now with Tyr coming in, and the future coming out as father plot, he's probably going to fight really hard for her, more than he would've before Zurvan because of all of his feels. HE JUST HAS SO MANY FEELS. This branches off into--
