Summary: Just Pyri spending some time with his fiancee. Oh, and he also has dirty thoughts.
There was something an elderly woman had said to Hel once, something to do with youth having so much energy and liveliness. Without a doubt, the elderly had less spring in their step, but that didn't mean she had the energy she spoke of. Generally she wasn't very active, keeping on her feet only because she was expected to. And so whether it was at the beginning of a long work day or the end of it, she maintained the same liveliness as she always did. Which was to say, not very much.
Wrapped up in a thin, blue yukata, Hel descended the stairs of the inn with slow steps, taking her time with every move. She wasn't in a rush. Eventually spotting the man she sought by the bar, as he'd mentioned earlier, she moved toward him with those slow, graceful movements.
Pyriphlegethon was lazy, maybe it was the weather or maybe it was the liquor that made him all warm and cozy and feeling slightly light-headed. As if his head was wrapped in a giant cotton pillow. The thought made him smile as his eyes landed on his bride-to-be moving towards him. She was taking her time, and he wasn't in any rush either. He liked giving people their space, so whatever Hel wanted he was happy to give.
That was pyri, just going with the flow of things. He did however, straightened and lifted one hand to wave at Hel. Even though she could see exactly where he was, he also decided to rise, pushing the chair away and getting ready to greet her properly. Like the gentleman he was not.
With typical respect, Hel came to a stop about three feet from him and gave a little bow, her hands folded over each other. Abnormal as she was, she understood how to be polite, even to her future husband. It was only natural, being raised on such customs. Coming out of the bow, she searched his face.
"Have you been here very long?"
Pyriphlegethon smiled at her, and returned the bow lightly, but then he leaned forward a little and planted a kiss on her cheek. All very formal and proper for the public. He was a traditionalist and would never try anything until the marriage night, unless of course Hel wanted. (It wasn't like he hadn't taken a good trip to Babylon when he'd been younger ... ) "A while, but it does not matter, I've had a lovely time relaxing here." And he did love to bum around the inn.
"Are you free for now? Shall we step out into the garden for a bit?"
Though Hel understood what her duty to the inn meant, she knew her father wouldn't protest to a break once in a while. After all, she was his daughter, not a slave. He would understand that his girls weren't busy little worker bees who could run on endless energy. She unfurled her hands, all without tearing away her gaze.
"Let's go," she offered, wondering if it would be proper future-wife behaviour to reach out for his hand. Did fiancees do these things? Instead, knowing it was to be expected, Hel reached out to take his arm.
If anyone asked him, Pyri would reply that he had no expectations of his future bride, but that was a lie, of course he had them. He was still... well, he had been raised in an environment in which all these sorts of proprieties were important. Of course he had them and of course he cared. However, he wasn't such a douchebag that he'd remind Hel every time she did something wrong. (Not that she had- so far).
She took his arm and he lead them both out into the garden, enjoying the fresh air. "How are you?" he asked turning to take her hands in his own and look down at her. "Are you content in your job, in your duties?" In her engagement- but that part went unsaid.
Hel was content to allow this, taking a moment to admire how her hands seemed so small and fragile in his. Certainly she was more frail than he, but being close to him only proved it ever the more. She disliked feeling like a delicate flower, preferring instead that she were a prickly rose, whose thorns could bite back. Maybe in that regard, it would be better to be one of those plants who could trap flies.
She tilted her head at his questions, pondering on them. "I'm not unhappy," was all she said, feeling that answer was sufficient enough. This was her family. She knew nothing else but them and the inn.
Pyri was not like Merlin, he wouldn't casually throw an arm around anyone and pull them into a hug, however he was not quite as odd as Galahad who could barely touch without freaking out inside. He was content and balanced in this, keeping a light hold of her hands and nodding, "I was thinking after we marry that we should remain here, with your family. I know your father would not appreciate me stealing you away from your duties here - and I have no ties anywhere else."
Also, mooching off at the inn? It sounded like a win/win to him. He could be the kept man in this marriage. Not that anyone would see it like that but... "Unless you are unhappy and wish for something else." But even if she did, would he really do it? Unlikely, Pyri was still selfish.
She allowed her gaze to fall to their hands. Marriage was an interesting concept to her. Being one who didn't know much about it outside of the obvious, Hel wondered what it would be like to be a wife. What would be expected of her? Children, she could imagine. Would she, like her mother, have only girls? It was something to think about.
"I would prefer it." Her eyes came up to his. Strange how he would be her husband and yet was also already her family. Not too strange, however, for her to be disgusted. Not even his age deterred her, but she was a girl who allowed for many strange things in her life.
"Then we can stay." Pyri nodded as if to reassure her of his words, he wasn't someone serious but he liked to keep his promises when he could. Then again, he was also very flexible in his interpretations of said promises. Well, whatever, this one was actually what he wanted too.
For his part, Pyri didn't expect much to chance other than the fact he'd get to have more sex than currently. Unless he went to Babylon, but right now he was too lazy. So he could wait that out for now. A smile was offered and he leaned down at kiss her lightly on the lips, ever appearing the gentleman he would not be once they were married.
Oh well.
Kisses were not uncommon between them, at least not in private, but still Hel was not used to them. It was a bizarre thing to press one's lips against another's, even more to use tongue, and she had heard people did. Sex, then, was completely foreign territory to her, moreso than something like Iriy or Niflheim. Briefly, she wondered what it would be like to travel.
But back to current things.
It was fortunate that he held her hands captive, as she wouldn't know what to do with them. Without protest she returned the light kiss, all the wondering what it was for.
No real reason, Pyri just felt like it.. and he was still a man. He wouldn't ask for more and he reminded himself of that before pulling back and breaking it off. He would never push unless she asked for more, and Hel didn't seem like she...really knew. So, Pyri saw no reason to scare her just yet.
..Sex shouldn't be scary anyway. It was normal. Not that he'd die without it but...it was nice. Okay, no more sex thoughts or it was going to drive him insane. Instead he leaned down and kissed her cheek lightly steering his thoughts to other things.
