For about two more seconds, Sita didn't get it. But then she did. The furrow thing was a giveaway, as well as the fact that she'd been worrying about running into Surpanakha for a while now. Well, since she'd first made herself known, actually. New York City was a big place, and so it was possible that they would never run into each other.
Clearly she wasn't very lucky.
She'd thought about what she'd do if she did happen to run into Surpanakha--the scenarios had always involved her being firm and standing up for herself and then getting out of there fast. There were slight variations each time, but they always turned out well.
This time, not so much. Without even thinking about it, she fell back a step. She also squared her shoulders and raised her chin, but it still wasn't the best reaction ever.
