Casper was dumbfounded. By the time he realized what was going on he was pushed down into a chair and left sitting there whilst the woman made her way back to the counter. Blinking after her he sat there and stared while his mind took the opportunity to catch up with what had happened.
He’d been ordered around by his father for most of his life so that part at least he was used to but never before had he been ordered around by a woman that was practically tiny, more or less the same size as himself and Casper wasn’t entirely sure whether or not to be amused, confused or annoyed. The mix of all three feelings floated around inside of him, his sharp blue eyes watching her closely as she sat and pushed toward him half the sandwich and the soda. He stared at both items for what felt like a life time before looking back up when the onslaught of questions were flung his way.
Frowning deeply he continued to watch her, his eyes darting almost nervously around the room looking for a way out before he forced them back to her. Fidgeting where he sat he reached up to open the bottle of soda, gulping some down before making an attempt to answer all of Amorisa’s questions, turning the bottle cap over and over again using the fingers of both hands, his eyes not leaving her.
“Casper Bryant.” The truth. “Oh...I’m living with a friend at the moment.” A lie. “And yes, I have enough to eat.” Not entirely a lie but not entirely the truth either. “And I’m pretty sure that was the oddest welcome I’ve ever received.” When he finished speaking he took another gulp of soda to moisten his dry mouth and stared down at the sandwich confused. “Why did you give me this? Did I do something?” He was aware that his own question was filled with suspicion but that was just Casper, since a young age he’d been taught not to expect anything from other and to not accept the things that were offered, he’d been made a firm believer of the fact that people only did something nice if they needed something from you or if they wanted something in return.
