Casper’s head shot to his left when he heard the voice, his bright blue eyes landing on the beautiful young woman who had spoken, he half expected her to tell the woman behind the counter to kick him out or at least tell him to hurry up with his order. He was surprised however by the words that followed, his light brows shooting up instantly in response, a momentarily baffled look coming across his young features.
He blinked at her, trying to find the right words but his mind came up blank, quietly he glanced down at the sad amount of coins he’d dumped on the counter and then back up to both the woman waiting on him. He hated being put on the spot, he hadn’t had enough practise when it came to socializing and it made him nervous, his palms feeling sweaty.
“Thanks but it’s alright.” He replied honestly, he had some stale bread at home so he could wait until then to coat it in peanut butter to satisfy his hunger convincing himself that he was only hungry because he was bored. On a normal day he may had taken her up on the offer and not even hesitated in allowing her to buy him something to eat but at the rate he was going that day for all he knew he’d end up having to owe the woman and that was the last thing he wanted.
Scraping the coinage back off the counter and into his hand he quickly stuffed it back inside of his pocket, pulling the sleeves of his sweater down over his hands as he moved away from the counter, smiling softly at the woman who had offered to buy him lunch before he put his head down to watch his feet not wanting to trip over anything as he walked pass her.
