Lunch break on the first day in his new job, Lloyd decided to drop in at the Library. He’d been meaning to start looking up the details of what had happened to his father, better to start now than never. His nose had led him to a little bakery, and his stomach clinched the deal. Pie, then research, and back in time to fix the knocking in that god-awful station wagon’s engine. He wolfed his slice of pie as he crossed the street, dumped the wrapper in the bin at the Library doors and found himself looking lost in front of a lot of books.

A guy's gotta work, don't ya know?

What: Job hunting



Lloyd was parked on a bench, wolfing down a burger when he spotted the ‘Help Wanted’ sign in the window of the garage. He’d driven into town for supplies and something immediate to fill his growling stomach. Waking up to the smell of blood had done nothing for his sense of calm, but it had kicked in his appetite.

He dusted crumbs off his shirt as he crossed the street. Money would be a good thing, and working on cars? Piece of cake. He’d never met an engine he couldn’t make sit up and do tricks. Better to get a job now than in a few days time when the new moon made his eyes change.

Lloyd came to the garage door and squinted, peering into the darker interior. "Hey, anyone around?"
