Her smile faltered at his question, and she turned away from him to gaze out over the water, "No husband or boyfriend I'm afraid... It's just me," Her voice became a little hollow, and a tear escaped, running down her cheek, "I'm all alone..."
She wasn't grieving for loss of a man, but for the family she'd given up when she chose to raise her son.
