It was a slow day in that shop in Myteria, so a lot of new stock had been put out, and one thing among it was very special. A small green box with gold inlay, it was a little tarnished and looked quite old. At a glance it didn’t really stand out as much, just a simple, small green box that was quite pretty, but if it was just to catch the corner of your eye anyone would feel its call. Not too powerful, just an incentive tp pick it up and take it home. It’s contents had been dormant for too long, though it didn’t know the passage of time while in there, the box itself seemed to. But it could wait, and would wait as it had for many years. But this place, this town seemed to have woken the container and it had a growing need to belong to someone. So it sang its silent song and waited. Morgan was shopping, a past time she enjoyed quite well. She had actually never been in to this shop before. Though it wasn't a great surprise. She hadn't actually been in Mysteria that long. She didn't like to meet the little folk either. But animal insticts to explore had forced her out today. She wasn't in work because, she didn't need a reason actually. She just wanted to take the day off. She scanned the collection of items and picked out a vase and an ornament that would match her belongings and decour. She was about to walk to the cash desk and tag the items so they could be delivered when she spotted that sweet little green box. That would look quite nice in her study. She had a theme going in there now. Redecorating and luckily, in green. A little small but she'd find something to do with it. "Excuse me. How much for this?" She asked as though money actually mattered. She lifted the lid to look at the inside. The shop keeper looked at ehr and shrugged, he'd never seen the box before. "Umm twenty bucks?" He said giving it a quick glance. For now the box looked empty, it wouldn't reveal it's secret here. But it's call for Morgan to neeeeed this item grew stronger. "Twenty bucks?" Morgan asked and obviously knew it's age and style better than the shop keeper. Good condition, fine quality, even the in lay was unmarked and unscuffed. She nodded, "Okay, I'll take this aswell." She replied. "But I'll take it home now with me since it's small." If the box had a voice, it would currently be, let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out! But it didn't so the man in the box was stuck until she opened it again, then he would be freeeeeeee! Well sort of. Morgan went home and set the box down. It was another fair few hours before she returned to the box in her study. She opened it up and placed in a fountain pen and an ink bottle. Little did she know that simple act would change her life. There was a rush of air from the box, seemingly way too much for such a small box but that's what happened. Then next to her there was a small redhaired man, smiling like a fool. "Mistress." He said with a bow, trying to contain his giggles. "Argh! What the fucking hell?!" She said punching the red head man squarely on the jaw out of instinct then stepped backwards. That was such a foriegn smell. She didn't recognise it t all. "Where did you come from!?" "Ow!" Robin whined and rubbed his jaw, then pouted, so mean! "Mistress that was not very nice." He said then blinked a few times before pointing at the box. "From there Mistress, of course." Morgan stared at him like he was an idiot. "You came from the box?" She asked as she folded her arms. "Did you not take your medication today? Do I need to phone you career to come for you?" "What? No!" Robin said and threw himself at Morgan's feet. "Mistress please, don't send me away! I've waited for so long!" he paused a moment. "At least, i think i have...problem with not knowing how long you're in a box, seems like a long time... things look different, could just be in a different place I guess, what year is it?" The man rambled. "What was I saying?" Morgan stared down at her feet. "What the...?" She furrowed her brow. "It seems like you've been in a box for a looong time." Morgan commented as she bent down to lift Robin to his feet and guided him towards the door. "It's 2007 and you were just saying you were leaving." "Leaving? Noo, nope, no can't be doing that!" Robin dissapeared and Morgan was left holding a rubber chicken. While Robin was stood next to his box. "007 huh? That's two hundred and three years." He nodded. "Oh this just does not bode well." Morgan mumbled as she rolled her eyes and held the rubber chicken aloft. She turned around to look at the red headed intruder stood next to the new box. "Oh...dear...god." She snarled. "What are you?" She had to start screening things before she brought them in to her house. Robin made a very exagerated bow and grinned. "A genie Mistress... or rather your genie." He said and staightend up again. Okay, don't laugh at the chiken! The tall black haired woman raised an eyebrow and dropped the chicken to the floor and strode over towards Robin with an unpleasant atmosphere following her. "A genie?" She asked. "You grant wishes?" "Yes Mistress." Robin said with a vigerous nod. it was true he did indeed grant wishes... now whether he granted them exactly like you wanted, only time would tell. She folded her arms and began contemplating this. "So, how exactly does this whole situation work?" She asked and picked up the box. "The box?" She asked, "Is this the delightful little thing that brought you in to my home?" She questioned. The things she could do with a genie. She could ruin all of her business rivals for a start. Such limitless possibilities! "Yes, I am bound to the box, which is nice cos it's pretty." Once again Robin nodded. "And yes, you wish for something and I must grant it. Simple!" Of course it wasn't quite that simple. "I wish. You grant?" She asked and walked over to her desk with the box in her hands. She sat down and watched Robin. "So...how many wishes do I get?" She asked closing the lid on the box after taking out the fountain pen and bottle of ink. Robin watched her as he rocked back and forth on his heels. "As many as you want, I have an unlimited wish capasity Mistress." "Unlimited?" She mused, "Then how come you wound up in the box for over two hundred years?" She didn't trust this one little bit. There had to be a catch. There was always a catch. "I don't know. I don't really know anything when I'm in the box Misstress, just that my last Master didn't want anymore wishes, or at least I assume so. Everything seemed fine, I was in my box for rest, then I was here." He shrugged. "Now why would someone never want another wish?" She asked. "Hhat happens to you if a master dies?" "I return to the box and wait for a new one. Why Mistress do you think you will die?" Robin asked with seemingly innocent curiosity. "Not if I have anything to do with it." She replied. "Why do you call me Mistress?" She asked, "Not that I mind." She was definatenltly power tripping. "What would happen if I burnt your little box?" She asked curiously. "I have no choice Mistress. The magic that allows me to grant your wishes makes me do it. I couldn't call you by your name if I kenw it or if I wanted to." Robin said then looked a little worried. "Umm please don't do that... I'm not entirely sure but it would be bad. That box is my link to this world and without it ummm poof gone!" "Interesting." That was not a pleasant smile to witness. There was something worrying going on inside her mind. "So, are there any rules as to what I can and cannot wish for?" "Nooot really nope." Robin shook his head. He would tell ehr to be specific, but what was the fun in that?! he couldn't mess with them if they were really specific! "Well...there's something disconcerting about all of this and I'm not sure I trust you." She began. "Do you eat? Sleep?" She continued gathering as much information as she could. "Where will you rest? Are you basically mortal in this form? Or are you indestructable?" She put the box in to her desk draw and locked it up. "What powers do you have desides the wishes?" She asked and pointed towards the rubber duck. Select "I can eat and sleep and everything yes." Robin nodded, a lot. That may have been too many questions his head may explode. But until he worked out the next one he would just nod. "Ull i can rest in my box if you want me to, um and Sooort of mortal. I can be hurt but I can't die, I'd just go back in my box." More nodding. "And not much really, just little things... the chicken is a personal faviourite of mine... never had one that looked like that before though, didn't even lay any eggs, which would have been good because I like eggs." "It's a rubber chicken. A joke gift...you get them from practical joke shopes." She explained. "How did you create it if you've never seen one like it?" She asked and then seemed more serious. Her brow furrowed. "I'm going to have to think about whether I need a genie." "I don't know, maybe my box has been in one of these joke shops." Robin shrugged. "And umm...okay, doesn't everyone want a genie?" "I have all the money I could possibly want and make more everyday. I have the sort of power people dream of because of said money and my status as a business tycoon." She continued. "I'm faboulously healthy and sexy, which is something someone else may wish for and whatever I want, I get." She replied, "Because I always get what I want. What more do I need?" She added as she gestured grandly. "You're possible a bonus if I use you right. Otherwise you'll be nothing more than an annoyance to me." She continued. "Like I said, I don't trust you. And I'm smarter. I figure smarter than you." She paused momentarily. "If a genie was the answer to everyones prayers why are they not known and passed among friends or family?" "I don't think they are that many of us, and some a really really nasty." Robin nodded, he knew that one first hand. "Yoooou could just wish me free?" he suggested, not like it ever worked. Morgan turned to face him. "Maybe...when I get bored of you." She replied with a shrug as though it was a completely unremarkable thing to wish for. "Depends how useful I believe you could be to me. Or how annoying you are." She replied. Robin thought about that. "Soooo, if I'm really annoying you'll set me free?" He asked hopefully. hey he could be reeeeeeeeeally annoying he was certain of it. "No. If you're really annoying I'll lock ya box up in a safe and dump it out in the middle of the lake." She replied. "If you're not annoying I may set you free. May." Robin frowned and sighed, then gave a bow. "Yes Mistress, whatever you say." Damnit, he could almost taste freedom! Morgan smirked. She did so enjoy being called Mistress. Shame he wasn't just her ultimate slave. Maybe she could use him instead of ordering out? Or maybe even wishing so she wasn't controlled by the moon? "Well I am going to go to bed. Put yourself away in your little box like a good genie and I'll maybe come for you in the morning." Robin nodded, there was another rush of air and he slowly faded from few. Then he was gone. So he had a new mistress and one that hadn't immedieatly wished for a million things they thought would make life better that usually didn't. But then she seemed to have everything anyway. Morgan watched her new trinket for a while before melting away in to the evening with various work before finally heading to bed. She'd do her research. She'd discover things. Then she'd be careful in her wishes. Unlimited wishes? Greed was trying to cloud her logic. |
