Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Roger and Lisa
What: Roger is drunk
When: Sunday Night
Where: A bar, then his house
Rating: Be warned, not for kids.

Roger sat at the bar of a wizard place, tucked in a corner near the St. Mungo's street entrance. He'd met up with an associate earlier, another lawyer, but he'd gone home with some girl and left Roger at the bar.

Brighton was with his grandmum this week, which left Roger to actually act like a bachelor. Instead of going on a date or trying to meet girls, he was sitting alone at the bar, drinking Firewhiskey and thinking about work. Work and Julie, as she invaded his thoughts. He called for another refill and checked his watch. Eleven. He might need to think about getting home.

Lisa, being the nice pushover that she was, had decided to stay late and help Marcus clean up the kitchen. It had taken longer than she'd expected though, and she found herself leaving later than she would have liked.

The first thing she noticed when she stepped out into the fresh air was that the late night life was considerably different from the semi late night life. For starters, there were a few bars close by. That was something she hadn't noticed before. Usually she just stepped outside and apparated home. But there were a few wizards hanging around the street and in front of one particular bar. On a whim, she decided to check it out. It wasn't like she had any place to be anyways.

Stepping inside, she looked around. She ordered a water-- she was parched-- and took to checking the place out. It didn't take long before she spotted a familiar face.

"Hey. Roger!"

Roger's focus slid from his watch to Lisa. He smiled widely, looking all too much like his son in that dopey moment. "Hey Lisa. What're you doing out so late?"

He looked just like Brighton when he smiled like that. Or rather, Brighton looked just like his father.

"Helped clean up the kitchen. I never noticed this place before, thought I'd check it out. What are you doing out so late?"

"I was here with my mate, Jude, but he picked up some girl so I'm alone." Alone. What a sad word. It made Roger sad. He frowned and took a gulp of his fresh drink.

Lisa frowned. She too took a sip. "I could keep you company if you'd like?" She wasn't sure what brought her to say it. Perhaps it was the months of pining with no result, or maybe she was just feeling generous.

"You're not meeting someone here?" Roger was really oblivious to the fact that Lisa had a nonexistent social life. Even when sober.

"Just exploring," she replied, thinking maybe that was his nice way of turning her down. She took another sip of water to prevent a foot in her mouth.

"Let me buy you a drink." He waved for the bartender, who looked reluctant to come back to him. Roger did this very rarely. About twice a year he got piss drunk on his own. It was usually in August, about the time Julie went on the run, and again in February, the last time he saw her alive, when she delivered their son.

"That's okay, but thank you. I'm fine with water. I'm dehydrated enough as it is," she said, giving him a smile. "But I'll still keep you company." She sat down next to him and placed her water glass in front of her.

"Didja hear?" Roger leaned abnormally close to talk, "Artifact accidents had a guy the other day, got his you-know-what hexed stuck in a blow up doll."

Her breath caught in her throat when he leaned in close. It wasn't until he mentioned you-know-whats that she scrunched up her face in disgust.

"That poor man!" How lonely did someone have to be?

Roger laughed, "I dunno how they got it off, but you gotta admit, that's embarrassing." Even Roger had never gotten that lonely.

She nodded, fingering the glass in front of her. "I hope people weren't gawking." That would be even worse.

"I don't think so. They were pretty good about keeping his id-- his face a secret, but you know, you have to call for extra ass-tance, word gets around as to what's going on." He was slurring his words a little. Roger put his whiskey down, half-finished. His stomach told him that was enough.

Lisa placed a protective hand lightly on his back. She was concerned. Minutes ago he sounded fine. Now he was slurring his words. He was clearly drunk.

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," he flashed the Roger Davies winning smile. "Just a little tiny bit buzzed." Understatement of the year. "I think I'm done with my drink."

"Want me to help you home?" Despite what he said, he didn't look buzzed. Though, she dropped it at his smile. Her heart fluttered a little bit.

"Alright. But not 'cause I'm drunk, 'cause I'm not." He slid off the stool and stood still for a moment, letting the room come back to focus. When it did, he looked down at Lisa. "Ready when you are, short stuff."

"Right. You're just buzzed, gotcha." She laughed when he looked down at her. He was cute when he was drunk. Even cuter than when he was sober. Though, there was something to be reckoned with the way he looked all serious and business like most of the time. It was sexy. But now, he was cute. And cuddly almost.

She started off in the direction of his house.

"But I like walking. It's nice outside," she cooed, trying to keep him from splinching himself. If he apparated in the state he's in, he would more than likely regret it. And then they'd be right back at the hospital. "We're almost there anyways."

She hid the blush that was threatening to creep across her face. "I learned how to make meatloaf," she said, as they walked. "I thought I could make it for you and Brighton one day this week."

"I like meat loaf," Roger said with a nod. He pointed to the front steps of his flat as they approached, as if Lisa didn't know where it was.

"Oh, is that it?" She joked, stepping forward and pulling out the key that he'd given her ages ago for when she babysat Brighton.

"Come on, drunky." She helped him up the steps and into the flat. Closing the door behind them, he led Roger to the kitchen. He needed some water.
