The sun had been down for a while. Suit slightly wrinkled from a long day, his collar thankfully loose, bags under his eyes from hours of pouring over parchments, and bags filled with gifts from abroad, Percy was the perfect image of the exhausted, overworked Ministry man. He had just gotten back from his overextended trip and was now coming home to his wife, his beautiful Audrey. All he wanted to do was kiss and snuggle with her. But as tired as he was, it was the ideal life he imagined, the image he had in his head as an ambitious student at Hogwarts. This was the life he was fighting for.

Minus the one key element: children.

The crack of their flat door was dark; the lights in the living room were off. Percy wasn't sure if Audrey had gone to bed quite yet.

He rapped lightly on the door as he opened it slowly, poking his head through the threshold as he stepped in quietly, hoping it would signal his presence to Audrey if she were still awake.

Audrey had not been awake. Percy had been gone for so long that she had settled into an evening routine that involved a rather early bedtime. She was, however, an incredibly light sleeper and when Percy knocked on the front door, Audrey's eyes snapped open.

For a moment she felt a flash of fear before realising only one person could get into the flat once she set the wards. Percy. Throwing the blankets off of her, Audrey all but flew out of her bedroom. She didn't bother to turn the lights on.

A bright, truly happy smile appeared on her face. She paused for a moment, standing on the opposite side of the living room as Percy before she hurried over and threw her arms around her husband. "You're home," she said happily. "I missed you so damn much."

Seeing Audrey's eyes light the room as she came toward him released a flood of happiness and he suddenly forgot all of his fatigue. Dropping his bags to his floor, he swept her up into his arms and lifted her around his waist, her weight and warmth so comforting against his body. Percy felt a familiar heat push up toward his eyes.

He was speechless, the look on her face so aptly reminding him of the day he proposed to her. Percy didn't have as many words as he did wide grins and bubbling laughs.

"Me too," he managed to utter inelegantly between laughs and hungry kisses on her cheeks. He was just happy. So, so incredibly and genuinely happy. "I never want to leave you again."

Laughing as Percy lifted her from the floor Audrey found herself almost thankful for his trip. She couldn't remember seeing him smile like this in recent months. And, oh, how it filled her with happiness to have her husband look at her like that.

Kissing him back against his mouth and cheeks, Audrey squeezed him tightly. "Careful, love. I might hold you to that." Finding his lips she kissed him gently. "No more trips till after Christmas at least, okay?" As much as she hated being alone, Audrey would never dream of stopping her husband from following her dreams.

"You'd better not be expecting dinner," she teased.

"Mmm. No more until Christmas." He repeated, grinning as he set her back down onto the floor.

"Dinner? No need. I brought home wine from Belgium." Percy reached into one of the bags on the floor and pulled out a carefully wrapped bottle. "Grab some glasses, would you love?"

Really, he could've kept holding her all night and Audrey wouldn't have minded. Not that she was going to turn down a glass of wine with her husband. Kissing his cheek once more, Audrey wandered into the kitchen to pull two wine glasses down.

"Chocolate too, right? What sort of husband would you be if you didn't bring me home chocolate," Audrey asked as she walked back into the living room. After setting the glasses down on the coffee table, Audrey lit the candles with her wand and quickly collected Percy's bags, depositing them in the bedroom.

It was so good to see him smiling again. No matter what it took, Audrey was going to make sure he smiled that way for the rest of their life together.

Percy let the next package he brought out of his bag do the talking. Chocolate. Dark. He liked his sweets bitter. He set it on the table next to the glasses.

Nestling beside her on their couch, he unwrapped the wine bottle and popped it open with his wand before pouring copious amounts in both glasses. A glass of wine in one hand and Audrey wrapped in his other, the wide grin on his face became a lazy, satisfied smile.

"Mmm. What has my Audrey been doing while I've been gone?"

Taking a large sip from her glass to cover up a pause, Audrey tried to think of something to say. All she had been doing was spending time with the baby and dealing with Tim's confession, but neither of those topics were going to be brought up tonight. Not when she only just got her husband back.

Resting her head on his shoulder, Audrey smiled softly. "Missing you and working. Spending time with the families. Oh I started writing a new paper on the effects of long term exposure to memory charms. Nothing too terribly exciting."

Percy kissed the top of her head before taking another sip of the wine.

"Mmm. You're right. It doesn't," Percy teased. Not like his was any better though. It was all paperwork and presentations. "How's your sister doing?" It was a bittersweet question, but still, Percy mentally patted himself on the back for remembering that. It was nearly a month ago, but that was approximately around the time he left.

"Fine," she said carefully and took another sip of her wine. She didn't want to talk about the baby. Audrey quickly tried to come up with someone else, anything else to discuss.

Leaning forward, she set her glass down on the table and turned to face Percy. "Let's go away for Christmas," she blurted out. Audrey knew Percy wasn't the most spontaneous person ever, but they needed this. "Just the two of us and we won't have to juggle two families and boring parties thrown by people neither of us really like. We'll go to Paris or maybe Rome and ignore the rest of the world for a few days."

She ignored his question. His brow furrowed slightly as a part of his good spirits were dampened because he knew what that conversation would lead to and what it meant for her. He wanted to be able to have a normal conversation about it, so a stubborn part of him wanted to reiterate the question. As he opened his mouth to begin, however, he exchanged words for wine and melted the stubbornness away. For now, at least.

"Paris? Rome? I practically just came back from there," Percy smirked. Audrey was right, it was quite spontaneous. But with the right amount of planning, Percy might be persuaded to go.

"I'd need to call in my vacation days for work."

"Going for work isn't a holiday," she insisted. "Walking the streets of Paris in the snow with your wife is a holiday." It was a sudden idea, but it made perfect sense to Audrey. They could be away from everyone and not have to deal with what was missing.

"I won't even ask for a gift if we go," she said. Okay, that was probably a lie. Audrey loved the presents Percy bought her. No one in the world knew her like he did.

Percy looked around their flat. A few paintings on the walls. Vases and trinkets accumulated throughout their five years of marriage. Their moving pictures were one of few indicators in their home that showed they were magic folk.

"The Parisian markets would be quite nice at this time..." he relented. "Oh, alright. We'll go. But that means I'll have to work extra hard prior. I can ask a friend at the Ministry who owns property on the Champs if we could stay for a weekend."

Bursting out into a laugh that was very nearly a squeal of happiness, Audrey threw her arms around Percy and kissed him soundly on the lips. He was so good to her. "I love you," she said against his mouth. "It'll be the best Christmas we've ever had," she promised.

And with any luck in the world, she'd be able to give him the present he always wanted. Now more than ever Audrey knew she had to get pregnant. She had to find a way to make their life complete.

"Come to bed," she insisted and kissed him again lightly. "You've been traveling and you look exhausted."

Percy smiled down at her and returned a kiss of his own. "Bed sounds like a marvelous idea."

He drained the last of the wine before setting them away with a charm. They had hardly touched the chocolate before he led her into their room.

Percy's side of the bed was still neatly made. Only the sheets and blankets on Audrey's half were mussed. The idea of having her husband in bed again was so wonderful that Audrey couldn't stop smiling. She hated going to bed alone and after a month the smell of Percy had vanished from his pillow. "I think," she said while standing in front of Percy and helping him remove his jacket, "you might be a little late getting into the office tomorrow." Her lips curled into a smirk as Audrey began to loosen Percy's tie. "I'm pretty sure the alarm clock broke while you were gone and I never did get around to replacing it. Imagine that."

Her lips found their way to his neck and Audrey pulled the tie off, dropping it on the floor.

And he honestly thought they were about to sleep? Audrey's assertiveness was a pleasant surprise. Blood rushed throughout his extremities and shook him further from sleep. That was the last thing he wanted to do, now.

"I love it when you grab my tie like that," Percy growled as the fabric came loose. He slipped a hand underneath the back of Audrey's shirt, his fingertips running across her skin.

After five years of marriage, Audrey knew nearly everything that Percy enjoyed, but hearing him confirm it still sent pleasure shivers along her skin. As did his warm fingers against her back.

"Good thing you give me so many chances to do it then," she replied with a smirk and nipped at his neck. Audrey began unbuttoning his shirt quickly. It had, after all, been a month since she could be with her husband. "My floo at work has far too quiet with you gone. I always love when you surprise me."

"I've been just as anxious," his fingers drew the fabric of Audrey's shirt up and over her head as he slowly moved her toward the bed. He sent ever hungrier kisses down her soft neck and collarbone, taking her scent in deep.

Having no access to her floo made it a very long month. Percy's appetite for Audrey only grew with every movement of his lips down her body.

Sighing happily, Audrey stepped towards the bed in her husbands arms, laughing happily when her shirt was tossed to the side. She loved him so much. Each kiss only made Audrey want her husband even more. Easing down onto the bed she managed to push his shirt off his shoulders and run her fingers over his chest.

Her hands fumbled with his belt. The lips she felt against her skin were incredibly distracting. It took her several tried to undo his belt and she almost whined in frustration. Finally she managed to remove it and Audrey all but threw it across the room. "You are still the best looking man I've ever seen," she murmured while pulling Percy down on top of her.

Percy grinned as the belt came off, a sly smirk indicating his approval. It drove him mad to see Audrey get so eager.

After the belt, Percy let a free hand unhook Audrey's bra. "And these are the best looking breasts I've ever seen," he replied cheekily. His wife was the only person in the world who he could joke around with to this extent.

Letting his wife take the initiative, Percy allowed himself to fall onto her, his bare chest against hers. His kisses became attacks on her neck as one of his hands slipped past the waistband of her pants, fingers eagerly searching for her opening.

Laughing happily as they fell back on the bed, Audrey kissed Percy hungrily as his fingers found their way into her pants. No matter how many times they had fallen into bed together, Audrey always felt the same thrill and excitement. She doubted that would ever fade, no matter how long they stayed together.

Pushing his trousers down, Audrey moaned softly when Percy's fingers brushed against her.

She squirmed and wiggled her way out of her pants completely, biting her lip to keep herself from moaning too loudly as he continued to touch her.

Grabbing Percy's upper arms, Audrey tangeled their legs together and rolled them over. She leaned down to nibble on Percy's neck lightly, teeth grazing his skin as she slid down on his length again, moaning against his neck. "Ohhh, gods, I love you." Smoothing her tongue against his neck where her teeth had just been, Audrey began to rock against Percy slowly. It was almost painful to go so slow, but so delicious at the same time.

He let her momentum pin him onto the bed. Being beneath Audrey drove him mad; as soon as felt her weight on his body, he felt himself spasm inside of her. Letting out a groan, Percy wrapped his arms around her bare back, pushing her close to his chest.

"God, I love you too," he let out another groan as Audrey rocked herself against her pelvis. "Oh god," Percy grabbed her backside, and drove her body quicker into his pelvis. He was getting close.

Feeling their pace quicken once again, Audrey gasped loudly. She could feel Percy against every inch of her body and, oh, it was perfection. "Percy." Audrey gasped his name as she felt herself rapidly approaching her climax.

It didn't take long at all. On a normal night Audrey would be happy to spend half the evening making love to her husband, but in that moment she wanted nothing more than to feel the sweet pleasure he could bring her.

"Percy," she cried louder and buried her face into his neck. She could feel herself tighten around him and Audrey felt her body explode. She groaned loudly, moaning his name over and over.

As her body writhed in his hands, Percy continued to ram her pelvis into his. Quicker and quicker, he pushed himself past the point of no return. Eyes shut, toes curled, neck strained, Percy let out a loud moan. He spasmed once, twice, multiple times inside of Audrey as his pumps slowed down.

Finally, when he finished, Percy looked at his wife and gave her a lazy smile, sweat glistening on his chest.

"I waited nearly a month for that."

Laughing happily, Audrey closed her eyes and rested her forehead against his. "I promise you won't have to wait that long ever again," she promised. Audrey rolled off of her husband and curled up next to him, placing her head on his shoulder. "Next time you go away like that I'm coming with."

A month was simply too long to be without Percy. Sighing with happiness, Audrey kissed Percy's shoulder lightly. "I'm glad you're home."

"Mmm," Percy made a low purr of approval. He closed his eyes as he breathed deeply, his chest rising and falling beneath Audrey. Hugging her close to her body, he wanted every inch of her to be in contact with his.

"You're so warm. I love you," he said lazily as he felt her lips brush against his shoulder. A couple more deep breaths later, Percy was knocked out.
