Jean let out a sigh, rubbing off the last little bit of damp from the back of her neck before tossing the towel into a nearby hamper. They were always pushed hard after practice, though sometimes it was hard to remember what for. The X-Men had had an okay if not unremarkable run so far, primarily going out to diffuse situations of anti-mutant tension. Even those run-ins were few and far between, but they kept on reminding each other that they would at least be prepared for when something truly bad and dangerous happened.
She made her way out to the hall, slinging her bag over her shoulder as she waited for Scott to exit the boys' locker room. If it was one thing that made all the hard work worth it, it was the fact that the X-Men gave her something to hold onto. She didn't know what she would have done without this time, the repetition of practice, the physical ache that reminded her she was still tethered to something. She had a good support network around her of people she trusted and cared about, including her oldest friend.
She crept closer to the door, standing right outside it as she called out. "You're so slow, Summers!" She kept her eyes averted for the privacy of her male teammates.
