"What if they had... They... They could have..." Alison's mouth went dry. "They could have killed me," she said finally coming to the crux of the matter. It was probably nothing for Star to hear, having come close to death how many times for Mojo's amusement, but for Alison it was a rare thing. She very much liked not dying and, in fact, you might say, she enjoyed being alive and hoped to die, quietly, in her bed, of old age. And not of Nazis. Or a bullet. Or those blue lasers, here one minute, gone the next. The whole thing had her tensing once more, just to think about it.
'Star's question had Alison gaping, if only because it was such a change of gears she didn't know how to respond. She drew her eyebrows together and and a very serious expression claimed her features. He had a point, not that he was aware of it, probably... "Its how we learn." Not that Alison would have done anything differently, she was a pacifist first and foremost, she wasn't about to go charging into battle. But she'd learn how to be more aware the next time, to look over her shoulder, to find the nearest exists and the hiding places.
