Ororo was clearly beating herself up about how the situation had resolved; Scott could tell because he tended to carry around the exact same weight on his shoulders.
He noticed Wolverine, Kurt, and the other X-Men looking in his direction, their expressions obviously asking what had happened to her. Sean even started in her direction, seemingly about to offer some sympathy, but Wolverine stopped him. Scott overheard something about letting her handle it on her own.
The journey back to the Fall People's village was going to take quite some time, and no one had the energy to make the trip so soon after the battle, so they set up camp a short distance away from the looming citadel. The weather had yet to return to normal, so the campfire had to be particularly large, with everyone gathered around it for warmth.
The entire time they camped, and during their trek back to the village, Scott kept a close eye on Ororo. He wanted to be there for her the same way she had helped him, but there were too many people around. He knew she would only open up in private.
Finally, once they were back at the village and settled in, Scott used the celebration in honor of the returning warriors to seek out Ororo. After all, it was easy to slip away from a raucous celebration once the drinking and carousing had begun.
"Ororo?" He almost asked if she was all right. "How do you feel?"
