All it took was the order from Scott to send Ororo after Garokk. She did not move as fast as the winds could take her, the enemy before her one that she was uncertain of. She would not engage without Scott unless there was no other way. Together they would have a better chance to disarm him.
As they moved further and further into the Citadel, Ororo could feel the cold settle in, though it did not affect her the same way as others. Her body was immune to high heats and low temperatures and it was only as they started up the stairs that Ororo looked at Scott. "The weather here is unpredictable. I will travel ahead and engage Garokk." It was Ororo's way of telling Scott that it was too dangerous for her to bring him with her. The cold, whipping winds were unnatural and it was difficult for even her to navigate their path alone. It only took a nod of confirmation to send her ahead of Scott.
What she saw at the top of the Citadel disturbed her. Mother Nature was too strong a force to control, too beautiful to be destroyed, but this creature seemed determined to destroy it. The freezing air and the howling of the winds were a cry for help. Though she could harness the power of nature, she was having a difficult time gathering the strength that was necessary for an attack. She would have to keep Garokk busy as she took hold of the forces that he was corrupting.
Garokk's monologue coupled with the arrival of Cyclops gave her just the time that she needed to take control of the winds around. Though she could feel the unnatural anger in the winds, she had no choice but to use them. Cyclops would only be able to keep Garokk busy for so long. The man of shale was too strong to be brought down by blasts of energy alone. "Winds, hear my call!" Ororo shouted, using all her strength to direct the thrashing winds at a single target. The strike was severe and Garokk shot back at an inhuman speed. The blast was far more powerful than she had anticipated, the strength of the Citadel's machinery too erratic for even one as skilled as her to control.
