Re: The Return of Kitty Pryde
It was interesting to hear the debate from both sides given how little research they had to work with. Kitty wanted them to scramble, to make assumptions, and to pull from what they already knew. It was not going to be a battle of facts, but of feelings. Which, to be honest, was what she felt ethics really came down to. Abortion is legal, how does that make you feel? Human trafficking is prominent in America, are you angry? Everyone has the right to marry, do you want a pitchfork or a bouquet? Facts were often damned in battles like these.
When it was all over, Kitty had the class rearrange their desks and though she was asked by Monet who had won the debate, she dodged the question. "It's not about winning or losing, it's about standing up for what you believe in." Cheesy teacher line for the win.
The bell rang and she hopped up on her desk. "Okay, you're all free," she said with a smile, trying to wave them out. A couple of the kids quickly gathered their stuff and headed out of the classroom, but the usual suspects remained. Did they really have more questions for her? Because Kitty had said maybe ten sentences since the class had started. Her mouth twisted to the side and she looked at Jubilee, silently hoping that the girl would once again save her. She could just follow Jubilee and her randomly acquired boyfriend around the campus. Anything to keep from having to head back to the sullen confines of Xavier's.
