Re: Rogue/Logan/Bobby/Etc.
As one of the event coordinators for the massive Fourth of July/Jubilee’s birthday party, Bobby Drake took his responsibilities seriously. He mingled amongst the crowd, reconnecting with old acquaintances and meeting new team members for the first time. In particular, he was amazed at how the New Mutants had grown up; he’d first met them as teenagers, and now they were members of various teams.
He had such a talent for mingling and making sure guests’ needs were taking care of that his buddy Warren Worthington had often offered to hire him as a coordinator for Worthington Industries events. As tempted as Bobby had been by the offer, his father’s expectations and disappointments had hovered over his head so much that he’d stuck to getting a degree in accounting, because that seemed less frivolous than being paid to throw parties. But these days, William Drake’s opinion mattered far less to him, so now he was seriously reconsidering Warren’s offer. Now if he could only find time to discuss this with Warren and especially with his girlfriend Rogue.
He spotted her off in a corner, sipping a beer and talking with Logan. He was always impressed that Rogue wasn’t intimidated Wolverine, because Bobby himself certainly was. But then, Rogue used to be in the Brotherhood, so Bobby couldn’t imagine what might intimidate her. He approached the two of them, overhearing her talk about wanting to track somebody down. He only heard snippets of the conversation, so he wasn’t sure who they were talking about.
Hopefully not the Cajun. Hopefully not the Cajun…
“You need any help in trackin’ down that Cajun,” Logan replied, “just say the word. I’ll drag ‘im back by his stubble if I have to.”
Bobby froze in place, hearing the ‘Cajun’ part of the sentence. Son of a…
Then a loud splash interrupted everyone. Looking outside, he spotted Guido Carosella surfacing from having cannonballed into the pool. Before he could process what was happening, several Jamie Madrox duplicates started heading toward the exit into the hallway in order to head outside. The duplicates were urging anyone in their path to come outside and watch the cannonball contest that was taking place outside. One of them pulled Bobby, and he let himself be pulled. He didn’t want to make a scene, but he was seriously bothered by Rogue wanting to find Gambit again. Was it because of what he did, or did she want to get back together with the swamp rat? Did that mean that she wasn’t happy with Bobby?
As he was led outside, he managed to lock gazes with Rogue for a brief moment. His eyes communicated that he was deeply troubled by something.
