Bobby didn't believe her when she said she wasn't hungry. He wasn't going to argue with her on the issue, though. Instead, he was going to stop and get enough drive-thru fast food for two people, and hope she would be tempted to eat once there was food in the car.
The thought was barely warm when she made an unsettling confession. "You ... didn't want Gambit to wake up from a coma?"
That was kind of dark; he couldn't think of any many enemies he'd like to keep in a coma, let alone people he's dated. Even Emma wasn't on his list, and her idea of waking up from a coma involved commandeering his body while he was unconscious, and leaving a snarky mental imprint behind.
He opened and closed his mouth multiple times, trying to figure out how to voice how messed-up the situation was without leading to an argument. He pulled into a fast-food restaurant's drive-thru, ordered a meal for himself and one that he knew Rogue would like, all the while pondering what he was going to say next.
Finally, when they were back on the road and he'd had a few bites of his breakfast burrito, he focused on something Rogue had said. "So ... you didn't want him to wake up before Seattle. Does that mean there's something in Seattle that's related to him. Maybe it's the thing he doesn't want you to know?"
