Rogue should have known it was coming but she was so used to only talking to Wolverine who didn't ask many questions that it still managed to surprise her when Kitty asked the one question that would explain what she had been absently hinting at in most other questions she'd answered. It was inevitable really but it just hadn't occured to Rogue that it was going to happen.
She had been focused on the sandwiches, looking forward to one though she hadn't been asked, but managed to forget all about any hunger she might have had as she realized that she'd have to answer the question. Though she hadn't noticed Kitty's curiosity she knew the question would come from someone at some point but even with the knowledge she had yet to decide what she'd do when it did. She was of the opinion that anyone who had previously been nice to her would be inclined to slowly back away from her and not speak to her again once they knew about her 'curse' but even so she realized there was nothing she could do about it. She couldn't hide forever.
"My ability," she responded, looking past Kitty out of the window in thought. It wasn't immeadiatly clear whether she planned to continue and it was a few long moments later when the redhead spoke up again. "Something happens when people touch my bare skin. Something bad. You don't think about how much touching people is a part of life until you can't do it anymore."
