Rogue noticed Kitty's renewed enthusiasm as she told her story and could only assume it was a case of feeling a kind of solidarity although Rogue herself had yet to explain much about her situation. She could understand it though; she'd had problems even before her ability had emerged and having no one she could relate to just made it worse. Warmed by Kitty's enthusiasm Rogue wanted to show Kitty that she wasn't alone but she wasn't sure how to do it without revealing more than she wanted to about herself at this juncture. She would have to word it carefully. "When my abilities happened I left home for a while," she explained. She paused, smiling in spite of herself as she added, "well, I guess I never went back." She didn't bother to explain that her Aunt Carrie's had never been home for her and that really neither had anywhere else. Rogue shrugged, not delving deep enough into the thoughts to let them bother her right then. "I guess it's not so bad if we both ended up here though." She smiled a warm smile.
She listened to the younger girl explain about her classes, confirming her earlier suspicion that Kitty enjoyed her work and was obviously pretty intelligent. It haven't even occured to her that she might see Kitty in a class but if Kitty was that smart that she could be taking classes at her level (sophmore, it should have been junior but she'd missed a lot of her actual sophmore year and what should have been her junior year) then all the power to the younger girl. Rogue knew that academics weren't her own strong suit but apparently they were Kitty's and that was cool. "You'll probably catch me up," she smiled, "I doubt I'm gonna graduate when I'm supposed to so I'll be here for a while." The fact that that thought didn't inspire fear in her suggested she'd come a long way since she'd first come to the school.
