we could break a silver lining [ narrative ]
He appeared as if from the walls, bypassing the thorns and brambles that kept his princess locked up safe within the deteriorating castle. She was isolated from most of the chaos within the Savage Lands -- and particularly the wolf that hunts in the forest, unable to save the redhead -- because if she or the blonde telepath were to wake, everything would start to break down.
He moved beside the bed, sitting on its edge and scooping the Princess closer to him with one arm. Her head fell back and his other hand traced her jawline, his thumb passing over her parted lips. He shouldn't be here -- his sisters would laugh. But how could he resist Jean? His obsession with her ate away at his insides and he wanted to remind her how good it could be between them, wanted to restore the blush to her cheeks and the breath in her lungs. He wanted to make her his. He wanted to undo all the unraveling she caused.
The kiss against her mouth was crushing, hard, unromantic. His hands clasped onto her head, pressing their mouths together, growing frustrated. Life did not flow from his mouth to hers. She did not rise from her deep slumber. This was not true love's kiss.
Princess Jean's body hit the mattress as he discarded it, her body lifeless as before. Whatever his purpose was here, it failed. He inhaled sharply, trying to measure his breaths in order to keep from shaking. Was he upset? Was he angry?
As he dissolved into the tapestries, the brambles grew thicker and the thorns grew sharper. The invasive plants that had enclosed the castle became so dense as to prevent anyone from entering her halls.
