log: jean, warren and scott
summary. jean, warren and scott take one last look at the hotel before the reconstruction begins.
warren. Warren hadn't had a chance to take a good look at the full extent of the damage at the hotel - oh, he'd heard the report, and seen a few of the pictures taken, but before they started planning the rebuild, he wanted to take a final look at the place himself. Jean and Scott were with him - it was fitting, somehow, the original residents being the three to take one last look at the place. Jean was shielding them from sight, so Warren felt free to just wander through the rubble out the front of the hotel, his wings drooping slightly at the sight of the sagging building.
scott. When Scott was asked to go to the hotel to take a last look at the hotel, he rolled his eyes. It was a very Warren thing to do the girly nostalgic thing. It took a little convincing--okay a lot--to get Scott to go. Once Jean got involved, there was no way that Scott was going to get out of it. He grumbled a bit, but eventually relented to Jean and Warren and their GirlFest 2009.
Scott hung back with Jean while Warren sped up ahead. "Man those top floors are fucked," he said, trying to calculate how much work it was going to take to fix this all. It might be better for them to just rebuild totally.
jean. GirlFest 2009. Charming, Scott. Jean frowned as she watched Warren's back. Reading his body language told her what he was thinking. She kept them hidden from any prying eyes while they surveyed the damage, keeping her mind open to detect anyone who might be nearby. She could also protect them if anything fell -- but in the time since the earthquake, everything that was going to fall went ahead and did so.
She glanced over at Scott then back to Warren. "We'll just have to make sure to fortify them very well during the reconstruction -- Warren?" She was worried about him -- while all three of them originally found refuge in the abandoned hotel, it had truly become Warren's pet project. She was surprised they stayed in it as long as they had, but when the number of teenage mutants started to come to the hotel, it made sense. It was no longer just about them.
warren. "I know," he said absently, though who exactly it was a reply to wasn't entirely clear. It was most likely both of them, since they were both right. He knew the place could be rebuilt - was going to be rebuilt, but then it still wouldn't be the same as the hotel they had before. He straightened up, looking back at his two oldest friends.
"Gaia says she can fix it," he said with confidence - and a touch of excitement. "We're still going to have to have other people take care of the wiring and the plumbing and everything, but -- we will be able to fix it. Make it stronger than ever."
scott. Even before the earthquake it wasn't the same hotel they had when they first came here. They would rebuild those floors again, and it'll turn out better than it had before. The hotel mirrored the journey that the hotel residents had gone on. They all got beat down by society, but they banded together and came back stronger.
"Huh. Maybe we want to get some professionals to look at it before we try that." Scott knows how hesitant to let outsiders into the hotel. But it was better to be safer this time.
jean. Jean slid her eyes over to Scott, folding her arms across her chest. "Scott, you're ruining the moment," she teased. She knew he meant well -- the best, even. But he could have let Warren have his little inspirational, ambitious moment without raining on it with logic. Of course if they were going ot make it better than before, they'd have to make sure it was done right. How that would be done, however, had yet to be decided. But it didn't have to be decided now.
warren. "Yeah, Alex Power has already taken a look at it. I'm going to get in some tradespeople to double check and fix the plumbing, but there isn't as much as damage as I'd feared." He smiled, looking over to Jean. "Jean and Maddie made sure of that." His gaze shifted again, looking back up at the hotel.
"Okay, I think I've seen enough. No need to get all depressed or anything. Drinks are on me, hmmm?"
